Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

got my last chicken tractor for the year made and finished...going to list it tonight sometime.
Sure feels good to get the sawdust washed off. I have a whole new appreciation for the jobs men do.

don't know about some of those uggo "hens",......... combs look a little big? at the auction i was told that with the silkies, who have those type combs, The bigger combs were the boys and the little ones the girls. (they were adults, presumably)

Is this incorrect? anyone? I'd like to be able to know, in case i ever want some.......... silkies, not uggos!

The only hen may be the white one with tan on the back feathers.... the rest are all roos!

Silly, i a m a beginner, but i am trying to learn du'ccle quality.....
On the porcelains, the short wattles on the boy are decent, though the regulars on the du'ccle thread say no bigger, and looks good with the foot feathers It looks like they are getting them on their middle toes too? That is a good sign. As is the darkness of the lav, i think? could be a lemon blue, but i think not with the straw color.

Did yours get a decent size? Mine are half the size of the adopted mom, and she's only the size of a dove/ robin!!!!!!!!!!!!

ChicwannaB,

You do such incredible work!!! I'm sad that I didn't see these before! They are really nice.

Especially for people that just want a few hens for eggs.

Thanks for the information! I know nothing about them. Sizewise, these are the first I've owned, I have nothing to really compare them too...
They seem tiny to me.

Nova, thanks for the color clarification on the silkie.

D'uccles are by far my favorite chicken! Ours was a good layer and a great personality.
Because of her size, I did have to offer her a bit more protection from predators.
