Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

? Isn't that an acid? i think this material may be polyester, don't feel like it's got any cotton to it. Wouldn't that melt it? i could try a tad on the bottom. Hmm.

I don't know what it was material wise... I just know it was one of them old fashioned couches that you'd seen in grannies house... Wood trim along the back and everything. LOVELY! Anyway... I also used it on my dining room chairs...

I'd just test it in a small spot. Spay it on, wait a second, then wipe off with a damp towel. Carpet cleaner migh work also...

My hen from the garage that hatched out chicks last week has moved herself back to the coop. My girls are smart that way. They stay in the broody box in the garage just long enough for the chicks to be able to keep up. LOL. Well anyway, she decided to move back to the coop, only the babies can not figure out how to climb up yet. This is the first hen I have with babies, aside from Leila, who hasn't tried to rip my hands off. She will stand still while I catch the little critters, then wait for me to set them up in the coop, (they are now in the 4x5 coop that has been empty) and then she'll climb the ladder. Any one who thinks these birds are pea brained in the bad sense... well I can not say it, or I will get in trouble. ANYWAY! This morning, she was going up and down the ladder trying to get them to follow her. I think I will have to go and buy an 8 foot 2x4 and make a longer ladder for the littles to be able to use easier. The current ramp is only 5 feet long, so kind of steep. I do not mind putting them up and getting them down. They get used to me then. BUT they need to learn.

I got my new clothesline up today. I have never put up a clothesline before. I sure hope that I have it tight enough. If I don't, then thankfully I have a power drill/driver so I don't have to ruin my poor wrist on a ratchet. LOL.

Gotta go and get my brats drowned in the tub now. I mean bathed. Filthy things.

Nice photos everyone.

We lost a chicken to a new predator today. It was of a four wheeled variety. We free-range our flock and we've had a few getting a little too close to the road recently and today my daughter's EE Alpha took a hit. Unfortunately, my youngest daughter was the one who found her. We had a feeling something like this would eventually happen, but it makes me so mad because people fly down our road like it's a freaking speedway. We are not a main road and it turns into dirt a few houses down, but they go racing by as if it's the thing to do. Whoever hit her, hit her so hard there were feathers everywhere and (sorry) one leg/thigh was in another spot. I mean seriously. What if one of my kids or the neighbors kids had been out there? In fact, about a month ago, my kids were and someone went speeding by. I was inside and heard the car, massive tire squealing, and a big boom. I don't think I've ever run faster. Thankfully, my kids weren't near the road, but he left a 5ft long, 1ft deep divot in our yard. We think he was avoiding one of the many deer that run through our property to the field across the street. Gah, people, slow down!

No Teeville, no apologies for me at least.
I can empathsise with this one. The people who rented the trailer next to my coop area previously had a little 2 yr old boy who liked to play in the yard with his balls, and they frequently bounced into the road, i saw him almost get hit once running after it, i about lost it. No reason to go 60 down a dirt road! Not much you can do about it though. Neigbors got mad and dug a speed trench in the dirt road, but that is illegal and they nearly got in trouble.

I hear you, Tee,
I'm in the burbs where the speed limit is 25 MPH. The school bus hits 45 every day. And they are the slow pokes!
This is a residential street and other than setting a radar trailer (which was broken) the local PD do nothing to enforce the speed limit.

But have a few hens and half the force is in your yard!

Sorry for my little rant.

Oh, I like the idea of a speed trench... hehehe. I think a few speed bumps would be great... You know the type I mean... Those one that if you hit them going to fast you'll flatten your tires. LOL, I have done that. I was going into an old trailer park home, and they put them in during the day. I was delivering papers at night, and this trailer home park is in the middl e of BFE and no lights, All the sudden there it was, and I hit it at 15 miles per hour. Dang blasted 2 flat tires...
