Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

When did I lose my sanity???

Was it before I bathed the chicken? Or when I decided the hat and basket were the perfect size for her?

Lo far so good no one else is sick,,,,,,nick on wood

Well that was my interest. I saw another BYC members coop and it had hardware cloth with some serious fasteners on it so that is how I will cover my ventilation openings next time.
I probably would have used screen in the past but now I suspect that won't keep out predators because of the stories on this site.
If those serious fasteners were our serious fasteners, the washers were only that gigantic because we had a ton of them around from another project. You probably wouldn't need anything that crazy.

Hey, Laura - wanted to give another shout out about how much I love the broody hutch Bryan built that we bought from you guys! It's been in use nonstop! We keep wanting to paint it, but I can't do so as there has been poultry occupying it since it arrived home!

I am so glad you like it. I often wished I had painted mine. Now it's up to Snowflake

I have too many things here to keep me occupied to ever say I am bored.

Snowflake that is wonderful news!

BYFM, I love the pic! That is adorable. Also I have been meaning to ask if you were the one making the little fairies?

I hope everyone will have a safe and wonderful weekend. I plan on celebrating my oldest son's 29th birthday Monday.

- does Gladahmae need to use hardware cloth over the vents to keep the predators out? And recently I saw hardware cloth and it looked like chicken wire but with much smaller holes and stronger/thicker squares of wire. Also, it had some fasteners that I had not seen before to make it secure to the wood so that the predators could not pull it loose. It was pretty cool!!
Yes, don't leave ANY gap/hole uncovered. Chicken wire isn't strong enough. Where did you find the "different" hardware cloth. How high did it come & what's the cost.

Question-

Does anyone know what would cause an older hen- older meaning...ummm four? Three? I bought her at chicken stock three years ago..

anyhow- what would cause the white of her egg to be red? NOT blood. (Okay, my husband said it wasnt blood. I didnt see it. But,
