Again today, I heard a rooster crowing a few blocks away. It was hard to hear him considering the firetruck sirens, the barking dogs, the screaming kids, general traffic, the loud woman across the street, the lawn mowers, and the hot rod cars going 60 mph up the street.

Yet, I go before the judge on Tuesday.

Attitude problem? Do ya think?

So sorry! Not sure why some people think that hens are so bad.

They eat bugs that would otherwise be in everyone's yards and homes, they don't leave huge piles like a dog, no barking, AND they give us eggs in return for letting them hang out, eat grass, bugs, and some grain...

Now that was just the weirdest thing.
My Uggo, Pepper was in the next box, just standing there.
So I gave her a bit of a groping. While massaging her rump, an egg rolled out of her into the nest.

I am currently at the wedding reception in Ann Arbor- but I couldnt wait to log in and tell you!
The wedding ceremony was next to a chicken yard- and a rooster and hen came out to join the bridal party- I was talking to SOMEONE, unfortunately I do not have any names. However, he said "I used to have chickens when I lived in Georgia- I like chickens.I want to get some more " I said, "I have illegal chickens" and he said, "They are working on changing that everywhere now. Heck, there is a guy fighting now in Garden City to have the law changed. My wife is on the council and she said she already knows there are backyardchickens because of your bumper sticker." I said "OH thats my friend Randy- yeah its stupid, threatening jail time to someone for chickens while the bad guys are out there not doing time". He said, " I KNOW they act like he is a criminal".

So apparently, this gentleman and his wife know ME but I have no idea who they are- brides side, grooms side, I dunno.



Im just glad we are done with this wedding.

My neighbor who goes on weed wacking marathons and starts up the Harley at 4:30 am is the a-hole who filed an ordinance violation. Oh and did I mention the parties till 3 am?

Hi all. Our exciting week - end started on Wednesday when hubby took the rest of the week off to work on the roof... he's still up there! He is roofing the garage that attaches to the house and adding a porch at the same time. He's putting metal on so everything came off. So because it's going slower we haven't really done much.
My young cousin who has CP and is in a wheelchair came to visit the chickens yesterday. My son is always telling him about his roosters. So after a stay in the hospital this was one of his asked for 'special treats'. He threw bread to them and petted them and wanted to know ALL their names.

My chickens are also molting but no one has a bald butt like that one. I had one who looked really bad but now she has beautiful new feathers. I have a few I wish would molt and they haven't yet. My little OEG laid her first egg yesterday. Not much bigger than the button quail. She is just the sweetest thing and I'm thinking I want some more OE.

Sorry about the chicken losses. I still think it is worth free ranging. but you may need to keep them in till that hawk loses interest in your yard
