My girls have nearly completely eaten the pumpkins I gave them all the way to the rind! There are even holes in the rind. They wouldn't touch the zuc plants themselves, but the veg they would.

I would love to give them pumpkins from the plant, but the only fruit the vine produced were 2 quarter sized pumpkins that were soon eaten by chimpmunks. We got 40 foot vines, and plenty of flowers, but that was it. Have you given your girls the leaves of a pumpkin plant? My girls have nearly completely eaten the pumpkins I gave them all the way to the rind! There are even holes in the rind. Hmm. Sounds like that PUL would be a superior chicken saddle material too.![]()
Now that I think about it don't think I've ever killed a deer while wearing a dress either!
I'm turning over parts of the garden, and am curious. Can/will/should chickens eat pumpkin plant leaves? How about zucchini?
Well, it looks like the mallard hen has left. There was no sign of her in any of the adjacent yards. Good luck, little duck.
A couple of hens are in full moult, so only 6 eggs today and I broke one in my pocket. My BLA looks awful.
How does PUL breathe with a solid coating of plastic across the back of the fabric? When I still cloth diapered I didn't find that to be the case at all and switched to wool covers. I do have about three yards of PUL that I need to do something with though. It breathes well, too. I reseal mine on high heat every once in a while.

Mine have never been interested in the plant parts of either of those. You can eat the blossoms, though, if you have any now.
