Thank you for the help.

I was researching the same people and I found one that the spelling of one name had changed over the years and it was one of the answers. It is spelled Bruegel in the books and sum places on the internet. I looked him up in the encyclopedia (yes they are still at my house)

It is spelled Brueghel it was great accomplishment just to find that one I was pulling my hair out and I am almost bald anyway.

Sick chickens/turkeys - respiratory??? HELP

LMChicklets: This sounds like the same thing Crazy Chicken Fever and Ive had with our chickens. I was told its was chronic respiratory disease aka CRD and the only thing that has worked is TYLAN shots. Now CCF ordered some tylan powder from jeffers to stop it but it hasnt come in yet. So I dont know if the powder works or not? I got my shots at TSC but they dont have the powder to add to the water.

I did a lot reading on it, and a lot of breeders say dont medicate at all..just let the strong survive and if the others dont, then they dont. I could not do that. I medicated mine and I still have a Roo and a hen that are coughing and runny noses. I honestly dont know if what I have here is, CRD or not. But I had all the same symptoms as your flock.

Another breeder and I were talking over the weekend and from now on, any bird that comes here, will be given inoculations.

Edit to add that I used Duramycin for a week and it did nothing and I lost 3 birds.

I will look into the Tylan. It sounds like that is my only choice. I can not do nothing and let them all die. I really wish I knew if the Tylan powder worked as well as the Tylan injection. Did you have to inject each bird more than once?

Yes they each got a shot every day for 5 days. It was a pain in the arse to say the least. If you think you can wait an couple days, Crazy Chicken Fever should have her powder today or tomorrow and then see if it works as good as the shots? She said it was not cheap it was $50 for a small jar and I dont remember many ounces it was either.

TSC carries Tylan powder. Given the number of birds you have I would get it in their water as soon as possible. It may not be as quick acting as injectionable but it will work. It worked for my son's flock.

Trying to get this placed winterize so I don't have to waste any valuable hunting time. Hoses to drain, coil, and store. Engines to run stablize gas through. Batteries and pumps removed and stored in the heated shop. Fruit trees to prune. I have the chicken coops winterized so I'm getting there. Hope and Granny want the xmas lights up so that mean get busy Sam.

Sam - doing some research it either sounds like infectious corza or MG. My TSC didn't have the powder form of Tylan, only the injectible. So that's why I bought the other while I was there.

I'm at a loss:( If I treat these guys and they appear to be o.k....... will I be able to go back to eating their eggs and be safe? Will we be able to process the meat birds we have? I do not want to jeopardize my families health.

ARGH!!!!

You could always call Michigan state and see if they can run test on one of your birds not sure how much they may not charge you.
