See what happens when you tick off the Eldest MaMa. 720 pounds 8 foot tall male 15-20 yrs old. Hit with a combine while hibernating in a corn field

Id hate to walk up on that and wake it up

Wow Ooopsy. That looks like a big bear. Where?

Well we have been dealing with the stomach flu here. I had it all day yesterday, my oldest son all last night and my husband all day today. That only leaves Brody. I have a feeling he will be getting it soon.

The snow is beautiful. Our driveway could used to be plowed and my husband is too sick to go out and play on his tractor. He is very disappointed. We are in Monroe Co. so we are getting a good amount of snow.

No thats not me or my farm. That bear was killed Nov 26th 2009 in northern Dunn County Wisconsin.

He had dug about a foot into the ground to make his den and was just covered up with corn stalks and debris. He must have been one smart bear to live as long as he did without being shot.

Ive only seen 1 blk bear in Lapeer county in 28 yrs and it was at my kids nanny's house. She called me screaming for me to get down there. She lived behind my place, and I look out the back window of her glass porch and heres a small black bear playing with a branch that was broken and hanging down from a tree. Sure was cute, but wouldnt want to walk up on one in the woods.

That woman must be proud.

We had 5 eggs today, the chickens must have heard my husband talking about culling

I can attest to the use of a mini dachshund to rid the yard of vermin. My mini-D can detect moles more than a foot under the soil, he digs them up and kills them with one vicious shake. He's 8 pounds of cold heartless killer.

I'm hoping for lots and lots of snow - snow days are sooooooo sweet!

Long, long day. Working this hard isn't for anyone of my tender years. We had to install two 75 gallon water heaters in the basement of a customers house. Talk about heavy and cumbersome. The new ones were very difficult. The only ones were just a little shy of impossible.

Didn't get home til after 7 but I did get the snowblower out and cleared a path to the shop and to the coops. The rest can wait til morning. I'm too tired to deal with it tonight.

Woo woo another Dachshund lover. My mini female, Libby is 15 yrs old. She is the best at mole catcher Ive ever seen. That girl will dig until dawn. Great earth dog. Couldnt ask for a better hot water bottle either at night to keep your chest cozy warm.. Gotta love'em Dachshunds.

Good evening! no snow here - i think this storm went south of us and hit everyone in the Lower Peninsula. not that I feel sorry for once. I'm sick of snow and want Spring. Oh well, tis the season. talking about great vermin hunters, we have a springer and a lab that hunt together all the time in our field and wood piles. One day they brought home several mice and moles to share with the family. right now they catch at least one or two a day!! Who needs a cat?

You've got that right Cristy. My 2 dachsunds have brought up to share with us, like their own treasure a ground hog head. Im not faint hearted in the least...but that vermin with its nasty teeth sticking out, was a sight to behold for "someone else"...gosh they are nasty animals. But good eat'n in the crock pot.

I had barn cats for years but these dogs are the best vermin killers around. Plus my 2 Dobes soon to be 4 , as the 2 pups Ive kept, are the best Coyette deturants one could ask for.

I send them out aprox 8pm and say "get the critters" and they run like the wind to the edge of the woods and bark like no tomorrow. I havent seen tracks or any signs of Coyotes since June. But I can still hear them, but they are way off in the distance. GO DOBES GO!

Funny how dogs know what needs to be in ones yard, and what doesnt.

One of the nicest dogs I ever owned was a standard sized long haired dachshund that I bought as puppy when I was stationed in Germany. My wife wanted to name her Heidi. Since every female doxie I had ever seen was named that I told her that when the papers came from the breed association we would use the name on them. The papers came and her name was Lustiga von ober Taalham. Heidi lived to be 15 years old when we elected to allow the vet to end the suffering cancer was causing her.

As far as vermin control you would have trouble beating the Jack Russell terriers I have. They bring a whole new meaning to the word tenacious.
