Briana, I don't think you will need a heat lamp. My broody EE hatched out 2 babies last week and they are in the coop without a heat lamp. This morning I went out and the babies were just happily peeping about. It was about 35 degrees in the coop. They were a week old Wednesday.

Wow, we are on tap for another pretty day. Yesterday sure was a good one. For those of you who have a regular job you only have one more day til the week end. For the rest of us, we can start enjoying it now.

Haven't seen the weather yet, Opa, but another beautiful day would be great.

Thanks alot HH. I don't trust the rowdy EE cockrels that are in the coop right now. Otherwise I might let them stay outside. I am waiting for my FIL to have some time to show me how to butcher them. I have hens going bald. The grab anything they can get ahold of, then the hen makes a huge ruckus and Rodney comes to "save" them, which almost always comes to feathers flying.

Good Morning.

We have mud in the backyard. That has to be a sign of Spring. If it doesnt hurry up I swear you'll find me outside with a hairdryer making my own patch of Spring. HH your babies are BEAUTIFUL

Beautiful day here too. Sun has been shinning from about 8am. Looks like summer until you look down on the ground. I still have a bunch of snow here but its very pretty. I didnt get to enjoy the weather yesterday , spent the whole day running to appointments, but today...Im going outside and start my spring cleaning in the barns.

Crazy Chicken Fever had pips last night so Im sure when I go over sunday, I'll get to see a brooder full of babies. Gosh I love those little fuzzy what nots.

Have to candle my one incubator today and see what Ive got hatching soon. We're half way there.

Everyone enjoy this beautiful day, Im off for the great outdoors!!!

I ordered babies today. He is unable to get White Orpingtons so I got a couple white Rocks, along with SLW, GLW, and Astralorps. He said they should be here in about 3 weeks. He had brooders full of little fuzzy butts. I just wanted to take them all home. I really like this guys set up. Especcially after Opa said hes seen chicks get picked up and then put in the wrong brooder. This guy has like 7 brooders stacked on top of each other. No one touches them but him.

Hurry up and look outside. The sun is shining

Opa,
Thanks for the tip, I'll try that. I tend to pass over the topics that have tons of pages. I check in to the site most nights though. I don't know if I can make the chickenstock thing. I work long days and and never know what I will need to have done on the week-ends. But if I can make it I will. When I know I will go to your link and put down what I will bring. (cake).

We just caught the end of Good Luck Chuck. Must have been watching the same channel.

We brought the mama hen in and put her in the brooder, which has now been renamed the chick nursery. She settled right in and is sleeping on her eggs.
