It's way cold out there and windy. At least the sun peeps out now and then. I hate winter.....have I said that before?

Got my girls locked down. Trying to keep the coop warm cuz Shirley in moulting. Why do they do that in winter???

Chickens definitely do some odd things. I keep running out to the coop to see if my frizzled cochin hen has layed yet. She just started laying for me about a week ago, and she was on the nest waiting for me to leave a few mins ago. She just knows I'm gonna snatch that egg and head for the stove!

Hey Vicki2x2 and chickflick...I think one of the bantam orp hen's is getting ready to lay!

Mr. Splash has been getting the job done with her, and she's been doing the laying song! But both of my bators are full.

AWE! Poor Hannah! Wonder if it'll turn some pretty shade of purple or anything? Maybe you should post a pic!

I've got a Penedesenca that's molting hard right now; I can never figure out why they do it in the coldest of winters. Poor Heloise looks like she's been in a tornado or something! She had, at one time, a single tail feather sticking straight up. That one never did fall out! THe rest are coming in nicely, though.

I agree, way too cold to be outside. I got all the little ones down for their naps and went out again to check on the chickens, bunnies and barn cats. Got everyone fresh water. I feel bad that the chickens are all locked up, but it is waaaaayyyy to windy and cold. I did get another chick catalog this one from Welp. It gives me some great ideas for spring! So many different breeds...so little time!

You go Mr. Splash. You got to make room for them eggs in the bator.

I can wait til these hatches are over...I think.

Miss_Jayne and I are supporting each other's addiction, so we got eggs from Lockedhearts for one of the bators. The other bator has some sizzle eggs in it from sarahssizzles. They were all set this past Saturday and Monday. By the time these hatch, Mr. Splash should have "mastered his technique" so fertility shouldn't be an issue. Can't wait to hatch some little BBS orpies!
