Good morning. Just got into work. Aussie Sharon has gratiously offered a dozen eggs at a discount to replace the dozen I got from her last year that never developed. Sooooo I guess the incubator will get fired up again.

Sam - I was going to call Estes today and see if we can still get the sale price on some pullets. I will let you know.

Good morning Everyone.

Look at what I picked up yesterday.

I really don't understand how the ducks got in the box. It was all such a blur as soon as I saw all that fuzz.

Hi Everyone, been a while again since i have been on here,
I have been getting about 12 eggs a day now, and 2 duck eggs.

all the snow is gone from my yard

Work has really slowed down, so i painted my sons room and now on to the girls room, then well put new carpent in for them.

Just think in a couple months we will be putting in are gardens

Ahhh, gardens. I actually cleaned one out the other day and saw little green things poking up from the ground, that is until the chickens discovered the bit of exposed warm dirt. That also means my horse will be neglected because of all the yard work!! Oh well showing is over rated anyway.

So, as Mom2emAll said we are doing the duck thing! I can't wait. This will be my first go with shipped eggs so I hope it all turns out all right.

Has anyone ever built a large chickens tractor? DH wants to build/buy one but we have 15 hens (with more on the way) so I would think it would have to be huge. Then what about the turkeys and the ducks, oh my what have I gotten myself into?! Maybe DH would buy me a farm for my birthday instead of the tractor?

Good Morning!

All these late nights are wearing me out! My brother's remodeling is almost done...we are waiting for the tile mud to dry so the guys can grout this morning. Then painting the bathroom and the plumber coming back to finish up and then it is pretty much done.

I helped my nephew last night with his math and boy have they messed up how to do arthimetic! Makes no sense to me. I am glad that I home school and the curriculum I use hasn't changed from the way I learned it.

Enjoy the warm weather! Jack, my 5 year old, ran outside already to practice golfing. He is good at hitting the ball

I found this site and there are some wonderful ideas for chicken coops/tractors. For those of you that raise meat birds, what do you charge per lb or chicken? Thanks!

I have Chicken tractors and hoop houses. The hoop houses take a little longer to build but they are awesome. I kept birds in them all winter and they did great. I plan on building 2-3 more this year. In fact I have the base of one already started, I just need to go pick up the hog panels in the am. I build mine 8x12 or 10x12. Tons of room. The news ones will actually be split in half so that I can use them as breeder pens. I did add wheels to the back to make them easy to move around. I can move them without the wheels, but the wheels make it super simple.

Very funny guys. I actually thought about saying the ducks and chicks not the boy. You guys had to go there. LOL... The boy is my 10 year old son Donovan. So I just ran to Walmart and got another big tote. I sat it up so now that is the duck brooder and then dried everything up for the chicks. It was so wet. I just changed everything in there once today already. Those ducks are so messy with the water.

I'll put something together this weekend while I build the new one. It will be a little different than any of the others, and may be a good learning experience for me. I will also be building a new tractor that will not have a flat roof. I'll get pics of that one too. Plus the brooder I'm working on.............and the list goes on.
