Hi everyone!
I am feeling much better- not all the way, but much better than I was. Thank you all for the PM's and sharing your experiences with me, advice- all of it. I went to the doctor- and what she said was, "Most probably it is shingles, but without the nasty classic rash, she cant say for sure."
I have a few blisters here and there, but no nasty outbreak...so, because she didn't see the classic sign, she refused to give me any meds for it. Oh, I got lidocaine patches to numb the nerves that hurt so much whenever AIR touches me. But I didn't fill the 'script. Mainly because the thought of the patch touching me was something I couldn't handle. The sensation is now only between my shoulder blades in a four by four inch area, and on my right side, about the same size. Thank YOU! It WAS completely my right side and the right side of my back.
I have Muscovy eggs being delivered tomorrow!! I am very excited. I am splitting the eggs with sevenchickens- so you all get to hear us fuss for the next 36 days. I will start:
I bought a new hygrometer/thermometer today and compared it to the New( two hatches ago) thermometer that I have been using. They are three-four degrees off. Now which one is telling me the truth?
OH! I have a milestone to share with you all. Its no secret that my weiner dog is a murderer. She, with my pit have killed many chickens. She will kill any chicken she can get ahold of. Well, I came walking up the drive today, and at the same moment I heard a chicken freaking out- so I yelled, and my pit bull came slinking up the deck, trying to get in the back door without being seen. The wiener wasn't outside, thank goodness. The same, loud hen that I have said I am taking to my brother in laws farm, but haven't yet, was out in the dogs' part of the yard. She flies over the eight foot fence- don't know how she does it. She must use her pine tree to do it.Well, she was unharmed. He had plenty of time to kill her if he wanted to. When I told my husband of the "close call"- he shocked me. he said, "that ^%# chicken has been out with the dogs all day. Summer (the wiener dog) was in the house". Shocked, I asked him how he could leave her out with them, and not put her away...knowing she would probably be killed. He said he came home for lunch, and that &%% bird flew out. he didn't have time to try and get her back in-all my chickens think he is the Antichrist- and if he would have opened the gate to the hen yard, the rest would have run out. He said he wasn't putting the dogs in the house, so he just figured she would either go in the garage up high, or fly back in- or learn that she had made a mistake. Well, I would have been very angry with him if she had been killed, but she wasn't. That means my pit knows better. He just gets caught with feathers in his mouth when the wiener has done the killing. At least he was trainable. I can't say as much for the hen. To summarize, she spent the afternoon in the yard with the Golden retriever, the beagle, and the Pit. And lived to tell about it- and probably do it again.
