Hello Everyone!!
frow.gif

Gosh it's been forever since I've been on here!
smile.png
Does anyone on here have Speckled Sussix? I'm hoping to find some hens and a rooster...I'd even settle for some nice chicks or hatching eggs!

If you have anything let me know...my email address is [email protected]

In regards to Oopsy's situation, there may be an explanation, albeit a bizarre one that I still don't know if true or not.

One of my father's friends knows that I'm collecting chickens (what else would you call it
lol.png
), and he is a frequent lurker at the Stockyard auctions that happen in Marlette every Monday. He told my dad the last time he went to the auctions, laying hens were selling for $23 dollars each!
hu.gif
: Apparently members of the Asian communities in metro Detroit come to the auctions and buy every adult chicken they can get their hands on. If this is true, it wouldn't surprise me a bit that the scumbag element would exploit this as another means to make a quick buck without actually having to work for it.

Concerns about theft and private property are also why it didn't bother me when Michelle (shellyb1969) had me pick-up chickens I bought from her at Ben's supermarket in Brown City instead of at her place; I completely understood why she did it. I also plan to be respectful when I go to Ellen's (ZephyrCreek) today to liberate some of her Chantecler pullets

You could be right GotChicken, as the auction and bird swaps are all just starting up. I didnt think about it. Im gonna call the local police this afternoon, but doubt it'll do any good. As we only have cops patrol here until 6pm then its up to the state and sherriff but Im at the farthest corner so we never see any come down my road.

I sure hope Ellen remembered you were coming? She stopped by my place today and we chatted for a couple hours. Was nice to finally meet her. I was out front doing chores, heard the dogs barking. I look and here is a truck in my drive and someone walking up to the house. First thing I said was "YOU'VE got guts walking up there with the dogs. And here its Ellen. LOL We had a nice chat and hope we do again soon. Always nice to talk chickens with someone else that is as crazy as I am , about them.

I will have some hatching eggs and chicks as soon as my girls start laying-should be any time now. I also have a nice cockerel, but want to get some fertile eggs first before I let him go in case something happens to one of the boys. He is my backup cockerel.

I would like everyone to know that I am not addicted to chickens. It just happens that I am keeping a few birds confined to prevent them from running the streets. If I didn't the highways would probably be littered with road killed chickens. So quit saying that I'm addicted when in reality I am performing a public service.

OH!!! He's so pretty!! If you decide to part with him someday I will need a handsome roo! PM me if you do

Thanks!

Ooopsy...I tried to copy and past the name for your daughter and it wouldn't let me send it...said it wasn't a recognized name? I couldn't find her in past posts either...I'm very interested in getting some and would love to talk with her!

Had a fun morning & afternoon. First my order of goslings came in, half for me and half for Ellen (zephyrcreek). They are so adorable!
love.gif
Then off to Sam's to pick up some sweet little peepers.
jumpy.gif
Some for me and some for Nancy (hustonn), I only go wellies, but Nancy also got some EE's. I think she might be short one or two when her Dh comes to pick them up, because they are the cutest little butterballs you ever did see!

Then had a late lunch with my oldest son at Cracker Barrel, yum! Delivered some mail and caught up with him. He is nearly 21, been living in Lansing, going to school, working for a couple of years now. Sure do miss that kid. Can't believe how much he has matured. Wow, I feel old now.

Well, the 6 year old will be off the bus in a few, she will cure that or make it worse!
