Gotchicken was just here to pick up some cute little fuzz butts. Those Chanteclers sure are cute.

I am going to rethink having people to my house. I think that anyone that orders from CL will need to be met in a public place.
If they come from BYC or referred by another customer than I will still use my home address. I knew it could be an issue, but I never considered that someone may be desperate enough to steal my chickens.


If mature hens are going for big bucks at Marlette than I am in the wrong business. I just sold 2 dozen hens for 1/4 the price.

I keep reading about the big prices that people get for their birds. I've never been able to get that kind of money, but then sometimes the way it goes for me I'd have trouble selling $10 bills for $5.

8 more chickens in the brooder now. I must be strong and buy no more (yeah, right).

So now I have the two Chanteclers and six assorted bantams crawling around the poor Silkies; at least Squirrel will be well prepared when she starts hatching chicks!

Got an EE with feathered legs (bad hatchery Silkie, bad!), possibly 3 Buff Brahmas, a maybe OEG (looks like an EE, but no puffy cheeks), and a ?. Will post pictures when they're less wiped out.

Got some free-bees!! 2 Sebright hens and 2 minorca hens. Also hen bantam buff brahmas for $5 per hen. PM me if interested. Pick up only please, I am willing to meet you if local.
Nothing is wrong with them I am just thinning the flock a bit so we can hatch out new babies from the breeds we are keeping.

 

[Crazy Chicken Fever]

I am so excited to get my little peepers, thanks to Opa for bringing them all this way. More to add to the basement full of hatchers I already have. I got to thinking now that OOPSY'S birds were stolen, I have been missing good birds here and there over the last year. I kept asking myself "where is this one, and where is that one". It seems like all the fancy birds come up missing. I wonder if someone is taking them? Most of my chickens free range all day and then go into the hen house at night but for heaven sakes I never locked the door on my chicken house....lol In a million years I would not expect someone to come on my property at night an risk getting shot over a few chickens.

We are gettting ready to build chicken runs off the side of my barn to seperate my breeders for the season, but now I am a bit worried. Maybe we all need to start meeting people in town to keep our animals safe and our homes private. Normally when people come to get chickens I show them everything I have for sale, maybe thats not such a good idea any more.

Scary!

I look forward to meeting everyone that will be here tomorrow picking up their peepers.

Jamie, I know you are going to be very happy with the welsummers. They look like little chipmunks with the dark brown striping and the vee on head is so pronounced there is no doubt which are pullets. Really looking forward to tomorrow.

Good Evening!

Our chicks got shipped tonight, so we will probably get them on Friday. Luckily Rachel was home tonight when the hatchery called, cause I forgot to give them our address when we ordered the chicks

Busy day today! We went to the library and paint shopping. Got a ton of paint dirt cheap. The oops cans of paint are only $5 a gallon. So I got most of the colors we need to paint the set! Very excited

Tomorrow is painting in the evening.

Tomorrow I get the previledge to help out at a funeral dinner at the church. So that will take up the middle part of the day, but well worth it.
