I wouldn't be much help. I know snakes are an important part of the cycle in life but they just make my skin crawl. When I was about 4-5 yrs. old my brothers put a snake in my boots. (yeah even at a young age there was something to do on the farm) and when I put that boot on and saw that snake.....it traumatized me.

I have tried to force myself to get over this fear, by handling them.....but it just don't work. There isn't much of anything I am afraid of, I've had a loaded 12 guage shotgun stuck in my gut, numerous cattle get me down in the chutes, even tracked a few wounded bear....but nothing gets to me like a snake does.

My son had a girlfriend once who's mom kept a pet snake in the house.....I would ask before visiting them where the snake was. If it was in its aquarium I'd come on in, if it was slithering in the house somewhere....I'd go home.

Shelley, you just barely beat me, I was reading and not logged on.

that was the best pot pie recipe i have ever used. seriously beat the old canned soup and frozen veggie type. my kids were just going on and on, "Mom, this is soooo good..." glad they liked it, because they'll be seeing it often!

We would be ahead of the game if we could get $8 dozen for eggs! Especially with the older hens still coming off their molt and haven't kicked into laying machines again.

We still don't have propane, 4-5 business days, and we have to prepay beofre they come out. So I gotta get something out and put it in the crock pot.

Have a great day everyone. Off to take a shower and get rolling.

Good Morning. Steve, I use to play with snakes when I was little. With 4 older brothers and no girls in the neighborhood, I was a big time tom boy. Guess you would not have been my friend back then.

Don't feel bad Steve, my husband is/was like that about birds. He was attacked by bats when he was little, they swooped down while he was walking at night and got into his hair, scared the daylights out of him. He refused to go into petstores, etc where they might have birds flying around. For years that is why we didn't have chickens, ducks, etc. Then we got a couple of bantam chickens and kept them caged. We got them in the spring and sold them at fair. Did this for several years, sort of desensitized him some, not completely, but he is not as bad as he used to be. As long as they are not flapping around, he doesn't mind them now. Thank goodness, so now I have have lots of chickens, ducks and geese! He was really nervous about the geese, had a bad experience with them too, but I made sure we got a really docile breed and we enjoy their silly antics!

I heard from Rachel again yesterday. They went snorkling and said it was great, even though she had no idea what she was doing. She said the eye clinic was amazing. She had one little girl that loved her and wanted to be held towards the end of the day. When it came time to load the bus to leave, she had to put her down and the little girl cried because Rachel had to leave. She also met a cute boy, the son of the manager of the clinic there, I think she said. He will be back to help on Friday and he is so cute she says. Oh great! I told her to leave the bikini in her suitcase and wear her shorts and tshirts to the beach!! Thank goodness she has lots of chaperones!!
