Sorry about the hawks. Only thing that worked for us was to keep them inside the runs that are covered. The hawks left us alone when baby rabbits starting running around this spring.

hello Briana1975, It was a beautiful day today. tomorrow Jerry Hodak said it will be 90 and humid again but Wensday rain brings cooler temps... tonight is suppose to be in the 60's... wow. I am waiting for cooler temps to paint my coop... I need to do a lot of little things to it... but can't with the temps... I get over heated too easy... always have. I was up in Gladwin area on Sat. and cut the grass.. went all the way home with a splitting headache... not good. nice to hear from you

Other than a little finishing paint, the coop is done!

It only took... 4 and a half months... but the chickens can sleep cozy at night and enjoy their run all day so I'm happy!

Oh yeah, a quick question! Do chickens sunbathe? I have caught a few of my chicks laying out on their side in the sunshine, sometimes with a wing stretched up in the air. After a little bit they get back up and go back to doing chicken stuff.

You were in my neck of the woods then, gallinamama! I'm between Standish and West Branch. We go to the Pizza Hut in Gladwin when we want good sit-down pizza

My little boston female was pg and due, I thought at the end of this week. I took her to the vet last friday for a check up, and he agreed, saying a week to 10 days. I planned on taking her camping, but dh got home late, we were all hot and tired and decided to just pick her up the next day when we were home doing chores. We were only camping about 15 minutes from home. So we left at 9 pm friday night and then Dh stopped at home at 5:30 am Saturday morning to let the dogs out and change for work. He found 3 puppies!

I was up at 2:30 this morning and at work by 5:00, hopefully that means I can get out of here early today! Was a nice morning for a ride, a little foggy, but no traffic made for a nice bike ride in!

Wow that is early, You be careful. I was driving back from Gladwin a few weeks ago: I was so tired.. just nearing my home when for some reason I woke up with car lights headed towards me.. I was in the other lane!!

I woke up after that!! I find that I am needing a bit more sleep getting older. I can not run on 5-6 hours any more... Might turn into my dad..he would fall asleep as soon as he sat in his chair

Now I am feeling old..better shut up now

Vicki2x2, those are some cute pups you have, congratulations. Michigan Wrangler, we have a cottage on Elk Lake, between Gladwin and Westbranch just a little North of Sugar Springs. We go into Gladwin to eat at the little diner on Main Street - the one with good pie, maybe called the Peppermill.

Sam, thanks for the tips on keeping the mud down in the runs, do you know of a local source for course sand?

I'm off to pull weeds before it gets too hot.

Hi there, We just bought a cottage on Smallwood lake. We go for breakfast on hwy 18.. right across from the Aco hardware in Gladwin. I had a bad experience at the Peppermill. We also like the Wooden Shoe... low prices.. good food. I hear you ... I have to pick weeds in the garden and finish trimming the bushes. I am waiting for my grandson to wake up..I went out to feed and water the chickens and water the flowers.. doing a little house cleaning . busy busy.
Sugar Springs is so pretty. I wish I could post picutres.. I am trying with no luck ... one of these days I will get it..I have some of the cottage and of the chickens...and coop (unfinished)
Also maybe some of the Amish up there might have sand... they tend to be cheaper on things.
