Had the first BLT of the summer on Tuesday. Only eat them when I have a big o" slice of home grown tomato on it. An heirloom variety had some ripe fist size tomatoes on it

.
Can't remember its name and have tryed to find its tag. Ain't easy cause the tomatoes are as big as cadillacs this year.

For the person asking about Silkie x Polish:

This is little Goomba at 3 1/2 weeks (he/she is 5 weeks now). Dad's a white Silkie, mom's a cuckoo Polish bantam. It's not so apparent in the picture, but he/she is starting to sport a wicked Mowhawk!

And the creature that is my avatar is NOT a chicken. It is a new species, the Camerata hoggus. Every time I take out the camera, Bar's got to try and insert herself in the shot. She's just lucky she's such a sweetie!

I'm thinking maybe our black silkies are crossed with polish. They have some big poof balls on top of their heads, bigger than I would expect on a silkie.

So how long does it usually take for chickens to get used to the idea of going in and out of their coop? The chicks have been in and out for only a few days now, and while they will come out of the coop pretty much on their own (one is stubborn and needs some encouragement), they don't seem to understand going back in.

I am so glad that I don't post pictures for a living. I wouldn't make any moola!!
Nancy this is Willow, my Buttercup pullet. The breed is small and active. Very good fliers and friendy.

They retain that "Cheetah" pattern in their feathers. These are the only shots I got before my camera went dead. Need new batteries and none in house.
Good thing I don't take pictures for a living. I wouldn't make any moola at this either!!

the wooden shoe is not closed we have been eating there all summer long... We are renovating our cottage and I do not have a kitchen or anything... The wooden shoe has great burgers... and good prices...You can sit on the deck and watch the boats go by or boat up to the restaurant and dock there... is this the same place?

I will try the toolhaus... thank you:thumbsup

The problem was that I got my computer fixed and I didn't have much of anything hooked up properly... I finally got the sound hooked up and I listened to the instructions... made all the difference in the world.

I went by there in mid-June and it was closed and looked abandoned. It was mid-afternoon on a Sunday.

The Tool Haus is also fun if you like to "Amish Watch." DH got most of his tools from there and they have a good variety of wood.

We'll probably go to Gladwin for the Carriage Festival in August. I'm gonna have to double check the weekend, though

Is it the wooden shoe on hwy 61? I go up almost everyweekend.. but havent' been at the wooden shoe for weeks now. I like the farm and family store on hwy 61 in Gladwin across from the Padima store. The Amish have their hitching posts there. It is so neat that little town.. Have you ever eaten at the Riverwalk?

Really good food there too... It is sort of the classy place in town.. but the prices are not that bad.

Actually, I've eaten at a little mom & pop restaurant that was there before the Riverwalk! It burned down in '99 or so. DH used to live in Gladwin, he was a DJ at 103.3 Country and his sister and BIL owned the little red bulk food store for a time in the 80's. It's such a neat town and far enough off the beaten path that it doesn't get the hordes of tourists. West Branch is pretty cute too if you take M-30 straight north, it ends in West Branch. About 1/2 hour north of Gladwin. The Ogemaw County Fair is coming up and they always put on a WONDERFUL fair, lots of rides, lots of animals and activities, free horse drawn carriage rides, a great historical village, heirloom garden and more.

Yup, Wooden Shoe and its "sister city" White Star are on M-61 on the banks of the Tittabawassee River.

Good morning to everyone here in Michigan! It is a beautiful brisk morning... a taste of fall.... Hope everyone has a wonderful day. I finally got "My Page" done.. figured it out. with the help of the instructions.. now could someone please help me post on the regular message boards...I am so computer challenged.
