I use heated dog bowls, since I have so many critters, I found them cheaper and easier to fill, I just go around with a bucket and fill everyone up. I do keep them raised up on bricks to keep them from getting so full of shavings, etc, but then, mine are inside the coop. Another trick I use, since I still don't have water to my barn

and have so many animals to care for, I have a stock tank in the barn that I fill about once a week and keep a tank heater in that. Then I can just scoop and fill waterers without hauling from the house over and over, or trying to use the hose and drain several times a week, which is a big pain.

Welcome to all the new folks!

Keyt, I hope you get to feeling better. I too am fighting a sinus and ear infection. Apparently I have to be careful what antibiotics I take because some will make the MG worse. I had a dr's appointment yesterday, today and tomorrow. Three different doctors in three different places

I am so sick of this!

lilmstw72, I just kept a light bulb hanging over my waterers last winter and chenged the water every morning and every evening. Of course this was inside the coop. This year I am going to try something different. I am going to put a light bulb inside an old canning pot, the pot will be upside down on top of a metal pan. Then I will put the waterer on top of the canning pot. This too will be inside. I got this idea from speckledhen but she used a 3 gallon plastic pail with a 25 watt bulb.

Mom2, that is why I got rid of my aquariums. I would much rather spend that time with the chickens.

Hillbillyhen,
my aquariums, when not tanks of death, provide me with wonderful peaceful reflection during the winter when I freeze outside with my birds. lol. But for some reason, I can't get it right at this time.
I will- just as soon as I figure it out and fix it.

My daughter, not the one who was sick and hospitalized a couple weeks ago, but the other one- dove after the ball in Volleyball and broke her wrist. She got a temporary cast today. I live in the E.R. and should get a group discount. In better news, she is an ideal student- and parent teacher conferences were wonderful and I am proud.

OH! She says i must tell everyone that she scored a point when she broke her wrist. Apparently, that is very important for me to tell everyone.

Have a great night, everyone.

good Morning everyone!!!!

Nothing too exciting here, everyone is feeling better though

Off to get kids ready to get them where they need to be this morning.

I had frost on my windshield this morning!

Morning, all!

I keep forgetting to unhook the hose at night and it's been frozen solid for several days now. So far no pipe damage, but I think I'm getting lucky. Who wants to call and remind my scattered brain to keep on top of that tonight?

...snow.
I guess it's not sticking, yet. Weather reports are calling for the same stuff over Halloween.

My mom was saying even the lower part of the lower pen. is supposed to expect the white fluffy stuff by mid-November this year. I hope she's wrong. Very, very wrong.

I get the heebies every time I think of volleyball. I broke and split my wrist last time I played...and that wasn't even in school, it was just with friends. It was a horrible experience and I haven't played since. I know it's all in my head. I was on the first girl's soccer team for my school. I busted ankles so many times playing that sport, even a game on my birthday. My mom never went to a game all 4 years except that year because it was my birthday. She didn't want me playing because of the shunt in my head and all the brain surgeries I'd had. She sat with her back to the field and sure enough, I busted my ankle really good. So good it required surgery. It wasn't until I was 5 years ago when I was in a wheelchair and weeks away from having my leg amputated from the knee down that my podiatrist discovered I had brittle bones (no kidding!?) and a fairly rare condition called RSD ..Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy...aka bad nerves.

Wow that was totally off the subject! Glad your daughter is doing ok. Glad she scored a point, I think that's awesome!!

It's a beautiful day so all these people talking about snow need to hush lol

All is well with the animals today. The chickens and ducks are all getting along beautifully now. I am also trying to figure out what to do with the water situation. The house isn't that far but it'd be nice to find a way to water without having to come in here. I wish we had water going into the big house, the one in front of the barn. Not yet

.

More crocheting is the plan for the weekend. We're kinda stuck here til I get paid on the 1st. I wish one of the others could get a job. OH well, I'm happy I got to do color tours for my photography this year. Got some great shots. Next month I get a new camera. Not sure how that's gonna work. GE started putting out cameras now so I put one on lawaway. It's supposedly better quality than my Fuji. We'll see.
