Did anyone else NOT have the UM-Purdue game on TV? DH and I searched through the basic channels and cable and the game wasn't on anywhere. Saw online that they won but why wasn't the game broadcast?

Maybe its Miller, I've never used them I was just reposting off a thread in the meat forum. They said Meyer so thats what I went with.

Olive do you know if Bellinger will do them? I can always call just wasn't sure if you knew. I've been by there enough times just haven't ever used them. Ill get some feelers out on processing too. Both my wife and I hunt but in order for us to do meaties she says it has to be worth our time and she doesn't want another project to add to next year (we've got enough planned as it is) and at a few dollars a bird for processing its worth the money to save us the time.

As far as I know Bellinger's does chickens. I've never used them but know someone who (I'm pretty sure) has.

My two 10 week-olds have been outdoors for 4 wks. so they have been hardening off gradually.
Until I can get my coop finished, they have been sleeping in a dog cage in my unattached garage.
They are doing fine, and have pine shavings to cuddle in should they choose not to roost.

I don't have the meat birds yet that is next year! We got our laying chickens from Milford Feed Store. The lady there has had chickens her whole life and is very nice!!

Hey Olive:

They get out and about every day and were out when the weather was in the 40's and they were 7 wks old at that time; they are fully feathered; i think you're right; i'm going to turn it off - thanks!

Accomplished quite a bit today...it was very nice outside! The chickens were happy and the the roo's, Chief and Radar, were having a crowing contest to see who is the loudest.

Silly Roos! Excited to go to the swap in Williamston tomorrow morning...would be nice if we could get a big swap going on around here like the Wolf swap in Indiana!
Does anyone have any laying Speckled Sussex hens? Or know of some? I need something in there laying and I'd like to stick with the breed I already have.
Thanks!

Has anyone here used apple cider vinegar in their waterers? If so, what are the benefits of using it? I was in the pantry the other day and remembered reading about using that in the water in some poultry mag I had. I know you have to use the kind that says "mother" on it instead of the filtered kind.

I believe it's used to help with paracites... but I didn't know there was a different kind, I just used the stuff in the store.....anyone else?

Getting excited, going to look at some meat rabbits today! Hopefully I'll come home with a full rabbitry!

I use the distilled. The raw vinegar is good for enzymes and overall health, but the distilled kind prevents parasites by raising the acidity of the chickens' stomachs. It's also easier to find. I just use it in the plastic waterers. I think my chickens like the taste since they drink those down before drinking water in the galvinized ones without it.
