hmm.......... think we could breed the same trait into the chickens too?

As a side note, I cooked dinner the other night and didn't realize I used the canned goose meat instead of venison...... dang was it good! Goose Goulash!

Morning all.

DH and I are getting a steer after the first of the year, well 1/4 of one. We belong to a local cowshare and they have someone who wants half a beef, the farm owners are taking a 1/4 and since we go through so much of their meat, they asked if we wanted to go in on the last 1/4. So, yes!

It's grass-fed and their farm is a certified organic dairy. Their beef is excellent.

it was yummy too! I love the name you gave it! We have rabbit meat here from my culls and we have bunny tacos, sloppy loppies, and shaken'bake bunny

I think this spring we're going to tackle the meat chickens now that I have a setup that will allow extra birds. Anyone around the lansing area have a plucker? I saw some cool "easy" ways to make one and I'm thinking about giving it a try to save some money when it comes to butchering! I agree though...someone should really get on top of that "spontaneous feather loss" LOL

do you grind the meat into bunny burger for the sloppy loppies or just shredded? (we have meat rabbits too)

It was funny cause I swore it was the canned venison... but there was a "G" on the can......I'm thinking what the heck did he put a "G" on the venison for (looked and smelled like it)... DH didn't know why either. Neither one of us knew. So lastnight, as I lay there trying to relax, I realize what the "G" was, so of course, I had to wake DH up and say it was GOOSE the "G" was for goose! (he started snoring anyway so he needed to be woke up!) I was nervous on how to cook it.... now I know!! The cubed wild goose goes good in Goulash!!!

I just shred the meat. I always tell people you can do anything with rabbit that you can do with chicken.

I know I grew up on my sister's ranch in the summers eating all that stuff. But I also know it's psychological why I won't eat it now. Almost like peas. A nurse almost killed my by forcing me to eat peas when I was 8, so if I see or smell a pea I get sick (ironic since I feed it once a week to my ducks lol). So I won't eat rabbit or duck because I am a HUGE duck and rabbit lover! Then again I love deer but I'll eat venison all day long! lol

Speaking of rabbits. I met RIRJen today to pick the med up for my sick Gizmo. He handled the first dose well. He's such a sweet little boy. Both of our rabbits we got from Vicki and the other one is sweet too, but Gizmo has my heart! Now I just

He still looks pretty spunky, you'll notice a difference really quick if it's working. Wry neck will start getting worse pretty quick so he'll go one way or the other.

for good results!!

Good Morning! Wow! It's almost Christmas. We do our holiday tomorrow, so will be busy making lots and lots of manicotti! Kids say they'll get the tradiational meals at the in laws so they have requested manicotti. There will be lots of noodle stuffing!

Want to wish all my friends here on BYC a Very Merry Christmas! Hope you all have a day filled with lots of love and good food!
