Keyt I'm sorry to hear about Gizmo...I'm sure you did everything possible to help him, definately don't blame yourself. Thank you for sharing the pictures, he seemed like a really sweet rabbit.

Thanks Jen. Thank you so much for helping me try to help him. I feel bad it didn't work. Or, maybe it did. Maybe we got another week or so with him! He definitely (and I know I've said it a lot lately) was a very sweet boy. Elvis is too but Gizmo loved cuddles (especially in my neck or under my arm) and as soon as the door to his hutch opened he'd come from anywhere and like a dog lift himself up ready to be picked up.

Maybe I'm silly going on about a rabbit...but this is why I had to stop working at the animal control center in Mason because I take them all to heart!

Cruizer,

Hope your hen is feeling better. You might want to try some electrolytes in her water and maybe some scrambled eggs to get her eating, see if that helps. If you are sure she is wheezing, she might need antibiotics. Not sure which would be the best for that, I would check with the emergency board, some people there are much better at that than I.

Good Morning....my hen is drinking a lot of water and not eating her crumbles, she will eat corn. She is still wheezing a bit but has more energy this morning. Where would I get chicken antibiotics?

TSC carrys Poulty Drench ( which you add to water) and antibiotics. I would start with the drench and watch her poop for worms. She may just need a day to feel like her old self again.
I ussaully dont go for the antibiotics at this point. If she has a cold she just needs time and she will probably clear it herself.

She had a very watery poop, threw up some water and is now eating a lot. I was thinking of waiting till she laid an egg to make sure she is not egg bound. She was inside all night, how should I transition her back outside? Or will a short time not make a difference in putting her back out in the cold?

And thanks so much for all your help on this.

Should not make much difference. I would wait till it warmed a little in the afternoon.
I always make my egg bound ladies walk a bit. Gently of course. You should know after about ten feet if she is egg bound. They will stop and do the penguin stance then strain to get that egg out.
