Other news I am working the Fish fry tomorrow at the Slovene American Club in Melvindale, right next to the library. All are welcome! Hand battered and fried Alaskan Cod, baked potatoes, french frys, wing dings(hot and mild) Slovenian slaw(vinegar and oil based) AYCE, $7 that and what ever else Mike and I can think of to throw into the fryers......might make deep fried mini rubens.....bit o sauerkraut, shredded swiss and corned beef, bite sized, battered and deep fried to golden goodness.....who know what we will put in to the fryers... the only thing I haven't tried is deep fried beer or coke yet. The rest I have fried, candy bars, butter, twinkies, and my favorite, veggies! Broccoli and cauliflower are great deep fried! Just be warned that the accordions and tubas will show up and there will be some polkas latter on after some beer and slivo...

Uncle_Bubba, you do not know what you are doing to me.....

I have not had a decent meal in a week [gallbladder? issues]

Chickenstock is a meet and greet with other like minded fowl folks. Pot luck, swapping chickens or other birds, just a great time. You haven't lived till you've tasted Opa's smoked chicken

okay then, No, plans for chickenstock yet? Well.... are we doing it at the same place, same time? Anyone taking charge this year? (no, I am not volunteering, But will be glad to help where I can)

Anyone local with pure Ameraucana hatching eggs for sale? In addition to buying them or trading Welsh Harlequin duck eggs, I could also trade some hatching eggs for Black Copper Marans (almost 2 hour drive for me to get the BCMs but still a better option than shipping And I know they're really nice birds). Although I have that back-up plan for the BCM eggs, I just haven't found anyone within 2 hours with pure Ameraucana hatching eggs. Anyone...

I was also wondering when it is a good time to let your hens go broody? Is late March still too cold?

me personally, I wouldn't let a hen go broody until at least 2-3 weeks before warmer weather.

I'll help with CS, but I don't want to be in charge. Hopefully, I can make it there before quitting time, this time.
