Glad you ave good news today! (bator parts)

The company I work for has a sister company that dose collision repair and hot rods/restorations. The quote you got is about par for a fender, paint, and labor. I would try and get the ins. to do an alignment too, it doesn't take much to knock the toe or camber out of spec on vehicles. The other thing to think about is to pay it out of pocket if you can, it might be cheaper than having a claim on your insurance and having the rate go up. It all depends on your insurance and the deductible.

Quiet day on the Michigan thread. Hope you're all doing well. I seem to be coming down with some kind of sinus/throat/chest thing. Can't stop coughing, my throat is sore, my chest is tight and I can't breathe without pain. I am set to volunteer in DD's class tomorrow morning and am trying to decide what to do. I've been busy the past two weeks and haven't made it in and now this. I feel so bad for letting her teacher down, but IF it's something contagious the last thing she needs is a bunch of sick Kindergarteners, too.

Our beta roo finally started crowing a couple of weeks ago and today the kids caught him mating one of the Brahma hens. I was beginning to think I would have to AI to get any of his genetics because he's so quiet and submissive, but it looks like he finally worked up some courage. Now, to get him on some of the Australorp ladies...

I'm going to set a batch of eggs this weekend so hopefully we get at least a few of his in there.

As an aside, anyone here familiar with the mating season for Muscovies in MI? I've got six out here and some nights they go in the coop with the chickens, other nights they want to roost in the tree by the feed station (about 15 feet up) and still other nights they want to sleep in the straw in the vacant farrowing house. The mature drake has started posturing towards the geese when they get out of line, but I haven't seen any mating behavior out of any of them so I am just curious when I should be expecting that. I'm hoping they do me a favor and choose a spot in the coop to nest.

Jen - My DH hit a small deer -- a baby, basically! -- with my car last fall. $3600 in damage.

Wow Jen, I am glad you are ok.

Keyt, so sorry to hear about you having to be housebound. I sure hope you get to feeling better.

Mish, sorry I can't help, I am on the west side of the state. Good luck in your search.

Everyone always says this but I have never had our insurance go up because we made a claim...

And we're young so one would think if insurance was going to increase we'd be in the "danger zone" for it.

Olive, I hope you will be feeling better soon. Sounds like a lot of crud going around. I made chicken noodle soup for DIL last week and now I am making some for middle son.

Olive I hope you feel better soon, there is some kind of bug going around, at least at my work. I am doing my best to avoid it. About the insurance going up because of a claim, it depends on the insurance company. I have sen a person with only 1 claim have their insurance double while I have seen a couple have 4 claims in 6 months and no change......If I could figure out insurance companies....IDK......I'll probably go insane before I figure out why they do some things.

Same crud going on around my work too. Hope you feel better soon. If you can do the codine/cough syrup from the Dr.. thats the way to go! I can't shake a URI without it.

We probably have one more month... maybe two of the cold stuff to endure! Looking forward to spring!

Our St Farm insurance allows up to 2 claims a year without affecting our costs. Luckily my DH manages to total vehicles only every few years so we haven't been hit hard with increases. (and he wonders why I get nervous when he drives). We always seem to come out pretty good in our claims so I have no complaints with the company.

Relatives of ours got the "bug" in both Florida and Pa. and husbands and wives kept passing it back and forth until they BOTH got antibiotics. No one wants that. Every Sunday we use hand sanitizer immediately after we are done shaking hands of our fellow church goers. So do others and everyone feels the same!
