You mean to tell me I will just have to take a little initiative and look this up? Well what good is BYC these days?
They are cute, whatever they are. Did you breed them yourself -- a supposed NZ to a supposed NZ -- or did the NZ doe come bred? If she came bred maybe she is pure, but the buck was either of a different breed or mixed himself? I, personally, am a sucker for hares. The last thing I need is another project to take on right now, but I've thought about looking into them for meat. Have you seen anybody raising them for that purpose?
ummm yeah! LOL! and let me know what you find out!
I purchased the adults in the fall, and now I'm putting pairs together to see what I get. Both parents were dark brown. I purchased them with the intention of raising them for meat rabbits, for myself (to sell) and for potential dog food. We processed the 6 roasters last weekend that came with the adults. Seeing what I get, may result in certain bucks or does being culled. I like the fur colors cause we also plan to tan the hides as well so the variety or the fact they're mutts doesn't bother me too much.
Jen, sorry about the car, at least it doesn't look too bad. Hope your back feels better.

Jen...so glad you're ok. Where was the accident? That's a real bummer! LOVE the speckleds by the way. I've wanted some but don't know much about them.
Speaking of muscle relaxers. Went to the doc today because my neck has gradually been feeling worse. I'm VERY accident prone so it could have any number of things that caused the pain. I have a slipped disk. Yay me! Just wanted I wanted to hear 2 weeks before surgery lol.
I wanted to go see the gang out back but Aric won't let me go out there, especially after this diagnosis. sigh. So it could be a long time before I see the animals. Unless I convince Aric to get my electric wheelchair I've been trying to sell out of the other house

Jen Glad you are OK and your truck looks like its still drivable...even if it wasn't, just remember steel, plastic and wires are easy to make and replace, you are not! I had an old boss who use to say "Metal can be replaced people cannot" and that is very true.

We only have Elvis. He's HUGE and won't fit in the indoor cage and I can't chase after him. He's not as much of a lap bunny anyway, not like Gizmo was. Makes me really miss Gizmo. He LOVED cuddles!! Oh well I have my two little toy poodles and Aric's dog (German Shepard mix) to keep me company. I don't think I'll make it out there before Spring.
Ugh just seeing that typed put a couple tears in my eyes!

Ahh yes I know! Well again, glad you're ok. Looks like the truck is fixable which is good too!
I am looking for someone local to Macomb (1 hour North of Detroit), 30 minutes or less, with hatching eggs for Ameraucana, Black Copper Marans (although I know a GREAT BCM breeder 2 hours away) and/or mixed Olive Eggers - maybe EEs if no Ameraucanas. In the spring I'm going to let a couple hens and maybe the duck go broody - they already want to and it's winter. The duck thinks it's part chicken because they were raised with chicks, so no issue there either. Since timing will be tricky I'd like somewhere close to get a few eggs when they do go broody. I'll pay or trade with pure Welsh Harlequin duck hatching eggs. The pair I have are from Holderread show quality. I don't know how to judge if they're show quality. I think they're very pretty. Or Silkie mix hatching eggs.
Also exciting news: I'm helping to add poultry as a new project area in my daughter's 4-H club.
