I'll have to check it out as I haven't ordered mine yet. If they don't use Townline they may have a larger variety.

I was at Miller Feeds Friday and bought more feed. Seeing my bill I though man I need a cheaper hobby...lol. Then I came home and put eggs in bator #2. It's a sickness what can I say. I did notice Millers had out the the stuff to order chicks from Townline for May 21 delievery.

Yeah, I was at Miller last week and the chick pages had just been put out. But May 21st is soooo far away!!! Still, as I may have mentioned before, it gives DH time to build those coops!

I was almost tempted to ask if the chick starter I was buying now qualified me for the free meat chicks, but thought better of it. I usually send my extra cockerels to freezer camp and figure with all my hatching I will have enough to keep me busy butchering. I got more cockerels than I hoped in my batch of marans I hatched out.

I suspect it would have, many people buy their chick starter and take it home with them at the time they order the chicks. I'm getting 10 meat chicks and hoping that the other 20 birds I order won't all be cockerels!!

I've had really bad luck with shipped eggs this winter. Lots of broken/smashed eggs. Which means the surviving eggs are often times scrambled inside. Then I had a severe temperature spike on a bator of my own chicks and many died the last week of incubating. Very frustrating.

Sorry about those problems. So far my only problem is discovering DH is now allergic to duck egg whites (still need to test him on yolks). I am desperately hoping he can still eat chicken eggs or I may have to re-think my plans!

Sorry , now I'm starting to rattle on.

I was in Alpena today and HAD to stop....lol. Was relieved they didn't have any babies in.

That sux about the allergy tot he duck eggs !!!!!! I have a friend that specifically requests my duck eggs because he likes them so much better than chicken eggs.

Hey Michiganders,

I have several cool roosters that I need to re-home. My hope was to have separate pens for them by this spring but -too little money, too little time. You know that story. I have hung onto these guys 'till it finally warmed up and I could fill the bator. It's up and running and now these boys need to find new homes. My hens are taking a beating from all of these hooligans. This is a new flock and all of them will be a year old in April and May. Some are from the feed stores and some I hatched from fertile eggs that I purchased. I am asking $5 each. I live in Clarkston, which is right off of I-75 between Flint and Pontiac.
Here's the list:

Standards
1. 1 Cuckoo Maran-"Buzz"
2. 1 Speckled Sussex "Specks"
3. 2 barred frizzle/cochins "Louie and Sailor" One of these boys is Frizzled(Sailor) and one is not but this guy has a plucked tail.

Bantams
1. 1 Mille Fleur "Denny"
2. 1 Golden Seabright (sort of-he looks like a Seabright but he has a single comb) "Little Bit"

Stay tuned. I might list a few more bantams in a few weeks.
I wanted to list the birds here before I took the list to the feed store.

So it starts again. We'll be heading to big acre tomorrow to get a few chicks. The kids enjoy them, and heck, so do I. We need some more blue eggs.

Good luck with staying away KrisRose. That's what I said too, and now look.
