He probably lives in the "Grass Lake" near you. Lake Skeegemog is in the north western lower pen. Near Torch Lake, Lake Charlevoix, Traverse City, etc.

Diana,

Glad you are feeling better. I have Chickenstock on the calender, planning on going as of now. Have had a blast with my BYC friends at the last two.

That type of area, looks familiar. I grew up in Bellaire and went to college in Big Rapids.

I like that Igloo looks air tight. Are there chickens out there this winter?

Blessings

Hello M TO The Maxx, I live a little over half an hour from Grass Lake. Nice area!

Hello!

My mother lives about 40 min. from there. I interviewed for a teaching position in their school but sadly, didn't get the job. Nice area.

Probably about 40 min for me also. Used to buy a lot of timber around that area.

Blessings

After Sunday morning's -27 here in Crawford County, this week's "normal" temps are indeed welcome.

Perhaps, just perhaps, we have now moved beyond this horrid, polar leakage. Gosh, I hope so.
I love winter, or I wouldn't have chosen to live up here, but please... One such polar leak down a year is quite enough.

Same here, but It was still cold going out the coop to change the water this morning before work. Saturday DW and I spread some straw around in the pop door, and to my surprise most of out birds came out and were wandering around the straw covered area. Before they would come out for a few min. then go back in. now they spend 20+min out at a time. Guess they like having something other than frozen ground and snow

I am SO happy that we are at 66 days til April 1...thanks for the countdown update Olive Hill. Of course.....it will really be more like May 1 for warmer weather up here but I can dream.

Uncle_Bubba....I am ashamed to say that with past flocks...I had them stay inside during Jan. and Feb. months..... In my defense however...I have a 8X10 coop and usually had 6 -10 hens so they did have some room. I am going to toughen up with my next flock and let THEM choose when they want to go out in the run!

Good Morning everyone

Cold Cold Cold out there, but after reading how cold you people "up north" have it I guess I can't complain!
I have ChickenStock written on my calendar!

I'm very excited to see all of you again...didn't make it last year so I'll have to make up for it this year! Is anyone planning on advertising this event so people outside of our BYC thread are aware of it? (I'm assuming it's open to the public, cause it would be a great way to bring in more chicken people!) Maybe a bit closer to time we can start putting up flyers around feed stores and posting online on chicken-related websites.
I got really lucky this weekend! I had a bunch of litters due and they were all born during the times when I was home to get them inside right away where it's warm.

WHEW! It's just too darn cold out in my barn for naked baby rabbits!
OH.....very excited here....tomorrow I take the turner out and my chicks can start hatching a couple days after that!

Guess I should get my butt in gear and set up the brooder!

And Sheldon (the cling-wrap egg) is still alive and growing!

I haven't heard anyone peeping in there yet but I figure any time now we'll start to hear them. Doesn't matter how many times I hatch out eggs, it's still exciting!

This is the first time I've used my nice big bator...all the bells and whistles on this one so I'm hoping to not have the issues with humidity I've had with my styrofoam bator. It's been staying right about 60% in there. Does anyone ever increase the humidity during the hatching time?
