<SillyChicken> I totally understand about your art work, and I am so sorry about it, wish dog show people would be a wee bit better then that
.
As a child I raised and showed a few Lops my all time Love was a boy named Jonny B good. he lived to be a old rabbit.I adored him. And we NEVER EVER could get that old guy to breed..lol
But he was a real love anyways, wonderful pics of the bunny's.
It looks like it's going to be a nice day out there. It was already quite warm when I went out to do morning chores and they're calling for the mid to high 50s here today. They say it's going to be cloudy, but the sun is peeking through here and there this morning. Still quite a bit of snow out there. It's melting agonizingly slow. I suspect just to spite me.
I did see a small path of dirt uncovered in the garden this morning. Hopefully the rest will follow suit soon. I cannot wait to start planting!
Yeah, but unfortunately have you seen the blogs/forecasts for next week? A MAYBE repeat of what happened earlier this month
models are almost in agreement with the forecasts. Mother Nature can be so cruel sometimes and her teasing us, then she slams us with more of the white crap! Winter can be beautiful, but UGLY! Waiting on delivery of my dog kennels so I can put the ducks belong our deck where there is more shelter from wind and snow and it's right off the basement patio where I can walk right out in their kennel, grab eggs, or if temps get horribly frigid again bring them into the basement.
I guess I'll have to go check out Bill's blog and forecast. The 10-day for our zip from Weather.com has only one day forecasted under freezing in the next 10 -- next Wednesday with a high of 26 -- and precip predicted for tomorrow, Sunday, Monday and maybe next Thursday.
Okay. Went and read up. Looks like the GFS and European models are in direct conflict over what will become of the north/south fight over the jet stream. Either it'll be warm and rain/snow or it'll be cold and snow. Bill gives the European model some face time on his blog but not one of the local news stations gives it enough credibility to actually forecast based on it. And since it's the cold model and normally would be given trump if for no other reason than to err on the side of caution -- tell the people it's going to be warm, they get ticked if it's actually cold, but tell them it's going to be cold and it ends up warm and they're much easier going -- I'm not going to worry about it too much. Precipitation is one thing both models agree on, but with the warmer model it's both rain and snow which means it won't stick. And that's just fine with me!
A friend of mine told me last week that it was the last of the cold weather.
I reminded her that the big "Blizzard of '78" was in MARCH!
That big winter storm took out the shelter covering my chicken yard, so I hope we don't get a big bunch of snow again or I'll be doing a whole lot of shoveling!
I just want some colored hatching eggs. I was looking for pure since I think it will be easier to find homes for any roos or extra hens I don't keep. Mrs Chickendad will sell me some so I'm fine for now. I would love to collect a mix of colors like your beautiful picture, so maybe next time if you don't mind me contacting you later.
I'm already deep into chicken math for this spring.
I was thinking 5 Ameraucana and 4 BCM eggs to split between 3 broody birds. Now it looks like I'll have to use the incubator as well since I'm on track to having a full dozen eggs of each (9= 24 in chicken math). I'm starting to make excuses such as "maybe the hatch rate will be low" and "maybe the pullet ratio will be low" and "maybe my broodies won't be good at hatching" and "maybe the weather will be too cold in April and none of the eggs will hatch".
