you guys are too much. insinuating that i, MJ would purposely cause a sugar incited purchase. okay. i'll fess up. i do it all the time.

Steve, the POL's are Brown Sex-links, Red Sex-Links, Black Sex Links , RIR prods, Barred Rocks etc. they didn't care what breed, they wanted brown egg layers. (don't panic CATRAY44, i'm holding back some Barred Rocks just in case for you!!!)

no brownie for you!

Alright- I am going out to care for the chickens...I know I am late, but darn its cold out there...
by the time I get back, I bet there are going to be three pages of posts here on this thread that I will have to read to catch up on...
and my husband wonders why I dont have time to get everything done....

oh boy. now i gotta make brownies later. i have a super fast and easy brownie recipe that makes a small batch.

here's the recipe. i don't put the nuts in, because my husband detests them. (i got the recipe from Cooks.com)

BROWNIES (EASY METHOD)

6 tablespoons cocoa
1/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup flour
1 cup toasted pecans (optional)
2 eggs

Preheat oven to 325°F degrees.

Melt butter and mix it with 6 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Then add 1 cup of sugar, 2 eggs, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1/3 cup flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Mix to combine.

Butter the baking pan lightly and sprinkle flour or cocoa over the pan until covered. This will help the mixture not to stick to the dish.

Spread brownie batter evenly in pan and put in oven to bake for 35-40 minutes. When a tooth pick is inserted and it comes out clean the brownies are ready.

Allow to cool until warm before cutting.

That brownie recipe looks good. I have one from my great grandma, it uses lard! I just use Crisco instead

I will have to post a chocolate cake recipe that my great grandma used. It is from the depression era. It uses no eggs and vinegar!

Off to check on the kids.

Steve, you ought to be ashamed of your self. That squirrel is a little resuce critter that citalk2much has saved. To talk about using it for stew is just plain pitiful. Especially when we both know it's hardly enough to make a good sammich. She will just have to get us some more.

I've eaten just about everything except possum and skunk. My father said that when he was a boy they would catch possums, feed for a week to clean them out and then cook them. To me they just look to much like a rat.

We have a local organization that helps out kids....one of their fund raisers is a wild game dinner, and it is good. I have no idea how many different wild animals I have eaten, it's a bunch, but I will not knowingly eat rat or snake.....blech.
