I heart PDZ lol. I used it today in the muddy/stinky duck room and it's definitely taken the edge off and almost all the stank in there.. WOW! I went to Family Farm today and yes, I finally found the DE, it was by the service desk towards the middle of the store. I will keep that in mind for when it gets closer to spring/summer.

I have always hear that the ducks and geese can tolerate the cold weather very well. I think as long as they have some kind of shelter they will be fine.

RIRJen, that is so funny. Is she at least still willing to eat eggs?

Oh yes, she'll eat them...I think it was just weird for her to see it come out LOL

I don't play that game, you either eat what I make or you go hungry!

FunnyBunnies... I see you're from West Michigan. Do you happen to post on Bill's Blog ever? (Bill meaning Bill Steffen from WOOD TV8). It's very unusual to see anyone on BYC talking about the 12Z or the NAM. Hee hee.

Scary Night Tonight!!

Went out to lock the chickens up for the evening and all the girls where outside squawking like crazy and my rooster was no where to be seen. As I started to open the gate and saw 2 little beety eyes staring back at me....a possom was inside our hen house!! Luckily, all the girls were safely outside! My rooster was extremely quiet and I had no idea where he was, I was actually afraid the possom had gotten him. My husband came out with his gun and shot the possom Thankfully my roo, Big Guy, was safe and sound inside the hen house protecting his girls!

All my girls got a good look over and only two had small cuts on their combs and one has a small cut on her foot. Big Guy has a few tail feathers missing but thankfully everyone is good! I'm afraid this could have ended very badly.

Are the possoms only after the eggs or will they kill the chickens as well?

Time to set the trap! It was the second possom we've seen this week! The first one didn't make it on the coop before my dogs treed it and my husband shot it down.

Yeah, this afternoon, a possum walking in my yard gave me a look like he was sayin... "whada youz lookin at?" So I showed him my leettle friend!

I too had a possum in with the hens. Last Wednesday afternoon, I discover one helping himself to layer pellet from the feeder inside of the run. A couple of 22 long rifle ruined his afternoon. Then Friday evening, Hope spotted a large boar coon strolling across our back field. A 22-250 round in his melon made quick work of him. I guess with many of the various predators roaming around looking for potential mates and meals it would be prudent to set a few traps.
