Hehehe! I told ya! The geese are my FAVORITE! Only one word of caution here, just keep an eye on him. In the next day or so he's going to bond to SOMEONE. If it's one of your sons that's fine, but your son should keep an eye out during breeding season just so Mr. McFluffyPants doesn't try to get frisky and catch him by surprise. If your son laid down on the floor, for example, Mr. McFluffyPants might take that as an invitation if he sees the boy as his "mate" (and we do know he prefers boys!

) Won't hurt your son seriously or anything, but might leave a bruise if he gets to flapping his wings and could startle him at least. LOL!

WishtoFish -- it's hard to tell what might be wrong without seeing them. How many did you have shipped up? If I had to wager a guess, if you had just a few shipped in this time of year, it may not have been the best start for them. That's why most hatcheries have minimum orders, to keep the chicks warm and secure during shipping. Those minimums are especially important this time of year when it's particularly cold in the mail trucks and post offices. A heating pack can only do so much.

Mr. McFluff or maybe it may be Sebastrian, I think may have already bonded to someone, our great dane!! Here are the steps to him snuggling with her.

And here he is with my son Chase.

Thank you so very very much Olive Hill for allowing me to have Mr. McFluffyPants/possibly AKA Sebastrian. (Close to the name Sebastopol that is why I thought of the name Sebastrian.)

I was thinking along the line of not enough warmth. I had a 100 watt heat bulb maybe 2 feet above them. I lowered it some and the 7 that are left spread out some. I drove on up to Tractor Supply and purchased a larger fixture and a 250 watt red heat bulb. I've replaced the small fixture with the larger 250 watt fixture and bulb about 2.5 feet high. I'm trying not to lose any more. I hate that part of having any animals.... dogs, cats, monkies(just kidding) & the chickens

I started with a dozen last year & late into Sept. I went out to the coop to let the hens out and I had a dead chicken. It's backend was pecked at & the feathers were all gone.I still have the other 11 hens & kept them all winter......

I have never gotten chicks shipped to me either. I have never had to use more than a 100 watt bulb on my chicks but then they have always been in the house or it was late enough in the year that the temps were higher. How is your granddaughter doing?

FunnyBunnies, that is just adorable! I see you keep your furniture covered like I do.
