We are thinking of buying a new place this spring, something bigger with more property (we have 2.5 acres) and I tried to talk Dh into having something built. He wants nothing to do with that, says it is too much work. I tried to explain to him it would not be him doing the work, our buddy Steve is right down the road!!

He wasn't falling for it!!

Sorry Steve, I tried to send work your way.

We had over 20 acres up north and really miss it! Prices were alot higher down here so we had to settle for 2 1/2 but now we are ready to upgrade a bit!!

Never Rest Acres sure would fit the bill!
Welcome newies.
Still shoveling the snow out of my run. When will it quit?? Had to drive thru the snow "showers" yesterday. Had to go to Lansing. My, the roads were horrible. . Had fun with the grand kids at Jumpin Jax...an indoor playground. Man, those slides were a blast!! Got to act like a kid again. I'm a little stiff today, tho!

Glad you made it thru the snow yesterday, too, MJ!

Well I am in to warm up a bit, now I know why I told my crew to stay where it is warm. I sure wouldn't want to be out all day trying to nail things in this cold....I must be a wimp. Got the walls laid out and studs cut to correct length, should start framing tomorrow. Think I'll hold you all in suspense until I have enough done to start a thread with pics.

Read your suggestions, they are cute. My last name is Ash, so I have thought about "Half Ash Farm" but .....nah. My wife and I use to call our old farm Ash Hog Farm, but it isn't just hogs anymore. Makin Bacon is catchy but soooo bad.

Vicki there is a nice place on Stewart Rd. it looks like it has lots of potential. I told my youngest to look into it earlier, but then he got laid off. It has a nice old white farmhouse, a couple dog kennels and a big old gambrel barn. Not sure of price or how many acres goes with it. It is just south of Long Hwy at Stewart....practically right next door to you now.

Is the Bib still doing business, I thought I'd heard they were closing their doors.

They're still open, but under new mgmt. It's not the same " in your face, rude waiters" place it used to be. We went back once not knowing it wasn't the same "Bib" and were really disappointed in the food, service and atmosphere. But we live so close, just down the road really, that it's hard not to go back. We've been back three or four times and everything is better so we'll keep going, but it's sure not the old crazy place it used to be.

We like Sam's Joint too. My sister used to be married to Sam's son. He's an a#@! But a rich one!

Is it ever going to stop snowing???????? Arghghhhhhh........................

I use BlackWillowFarm on a couple of other forums. The black willow tree is a swamp tree and we have three or four around our swamp. We have a really giant one I call the swamp monster. The branches are all broken and hanging down. It sits in the middle of the swamp all by itself looking monstrous. I thought black willow was more flattering than SwampMonsterFarm. Would you visit me at the SwampMonster?

Yep, they gotta have meat on them bones.

My recipe contribution:

6 young squirrels
2 egg yolks
flour
garlic powder
onion powder
paprika
salt
pepper
vegetable oil
Cut squirrels into pieces and wash well. Beat egg yolks and pour over squirrels. Season flour with spices, to taste…add lots of black pepper. Roll squirrel pieces in flour and fry in oil on medium heat. Cover with lid and cook about 5 minutes on each side then remove lid to allow squirrels to brown.

My bator(s) have been running ALL winter, except for maybe 2 weeks at the most. I just can't get enough of the whole hatching thing...I truly am addicted to it. Gonna have an empty bator come Monday...gotta fix that!
