Jen they are really nice looking birds! They look quite large and robust enough to be ok without heat or light, but it's going below freezing tonight, you may want to err on the side of caution if they haven't adapted to it yet.

Yeah, I put the heat light out there and when I checked on them after dark most of them had found the light and were asleep under it but a few had all huddled together in another spot...I figured I'd see how they do tonight and decide wether or not they actually need it.
I have one chicky out in the bator!

sick hen, three year old isa brown with distended abdomen. can't feel an egg back there and just wormed everyone recently. I separated her, soaked her bottom parts, put her in a dark warm spot with food and water all day. no egg and no change. she is eating and drinking. not wanting to move though and tail tucked under. abdomen seems tender when I touch it. Is this endrometriosis, or some other mysterious hatchery production breed thing? I find mixed information on BYC from egg boundness to internal laying, etc. I gave her a batrim tab(antibiotic) tonight. She's been acting kinda funny for three days now.

40+ And sunny all week?! I think we've hit the jackpot!!!

I started digging fence post holes yesterday afternoon. It's still a bit early. I hit frost about 10-12 inches down. Hopefully by the end of this week that'll change and I can get those posts in.

Planted the first bed of peas last week. Will be putting in beets, turnips, greens, carrots and radishes this week. And once those peas are up and growing we'll put in another bed of them. I couldn't be happier to see spring.... springing... hopefully it sticks this time. Though I distinctly remember snow storms in April so we'll see....
