I won half the battle. I wanted to take all of our dumber than sand Isa Browns and the two roosters that never shut up to chickenstock. Aric has agreed the Isas are totally worthless but he still won't let go of his boys. I wish someone would come along and steal them! lol

I hate this weather! Aric and I have had 5 days alone and haven't been able to spend much of it outside. My daughter comes back tomorrow and I'm not sure how I feel about it considering the hell of last week! We were going to go to my best friend's to start taking in some of that barn wood, but it's far back into the woods and it would be difficult (and a bit dangerous) in the rain! It would be so much easier if we had two chainsaws!

Well, despite the rain, I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Thanks, Jen. I will do that. She always finishes her fresh foods first and picks at the pellets so I'll start increasing fresh foods and just keep an eye out for digestive upset.

Fife -- I'll be adventurous and wager a bet on colors. I think you've got four blues there.

Olive, I was just wondering about the possibility that your rabbit might have hairballs. If I remember correctly they can get them just like cats do, but I don't know that it would make them that sick. Good luck

I am still waiting for a broody hen. I have had a couple that have thought about it but they go in the favorite nest box only to get pushed out by the other hens. I figure if they were really serious about being broody nothing would budge them.

What do you do when you can't keep up with the demand on your eggs?? I feel so bad when I have to turn people away. I guess I HAVE to incubate/buy more chicks

I have four more days until lockdown!!

I just got into the duck egg business with some Chinese people and apparently they LOVE them.. so every egg that my duckens lay this year are spoken for.

I thought about that...but if the rabbit is eating and drinking normally then it's probably not a hairball. If it makes you feel better Olive you can give 1cc of mineral oil to clear it out in case there is a blockage. (won't hurt either way)

Today has started on a positive note. Positive for me but I guess the coon wouldn't agree. Finally got light enough to look out at the chicken coops and one of my dog proof leg hold traps held a coon. Seems like they are going to work real well in reducing the predators around here.

Good morning everyone...hope your rabbit is better Olive...Keyt.. that it goes ok when your daughter gets home...Cricket...can't they get on a waiting list?
Olive I hope I do have 4 blues...the 5th one you can't see in the picture but it's black. It was the last hatched and the "runt" but so fiesty I'm thinking a roo.
What weather we had up here yesterday!! All in one day we had sleet, hail, snow, rain and thunder!! Holy cow!
Question for my chicken friends...one of my chicks has loose bowels...eats and drinks fine...acts fine but when it goes it is liquid. Should I give it anything or maybe since it was recently born...just hasn't got it's digestive system operating smoothly?? What do you think?

Good news there Opa! Let's see how many you get...when we use to grow sweet corn...my husband would sit in the truck facing the garden with his gun...he could not believe how many we had come thru! We just finally gave up on sweet corn.

I find of mine set up an infra red alarm his bird feeder a couple of years ago. At night when the alarm went off he would get up, go outside and shoot the coon that triggered it. In about 3 months he killed over 40 coons. With very few folks trapping them for fur their populations have just exploded. Leading cause of canine distemper in US is from raccoon feces. Protect your dogs and your chickens. Start eliminating raccoons.
