I had an interesting lesson on coons the other day. While walking through a deceased long time farming neighbor's property to look at old farm equipment, we took a shortcut (Aric has lived in these houses his whole life so at least he knew where he was going lol) and he saw tails in a tree. I had no idea what they were and Aric said they were coons. I got some good pics as they were sleeping. I had NO idea they had dens in trees! There must have been at least 5! Aric made a coon call and one opened his eyes long enough for me to get a pic of him awake but it made me nervous. I had a tangle with a coon a few times on my sister's ranch, don't want that again! I'm not scared of anything but coons and bats! lol

Happy Easter everyone! Going to go egg hunting (in the chicken coop) and the go over to a friends house for prime rib!!!

Cleaning their ink jets is a rather messy procedure requiring the assistance of a computer savvy vet with little tiny Q-tips.

But the toughest part is inserting a new ink cartridge.

Just moved to Gaylord (center of the snow belt) last January from Traverse City. I miss the bay being a block away, but now I have room for horses and chickens and my dogs have a much larger yard! I'm pretty bummed that my boyfriend lives an hour away...we both have jobs and he has college, so there isn't much time...hoping for a better future though! I've made wonderful friends with my chickens. We moved here, Mom said we were getting chickens...I guess I was excited, but I didn't think much of it. Now I'm the crazy chicken lady around here...at 20 years old. Other than missing the water and my boyfriend...it's not too bad out here...some people I could do without...and opinions that are just insane to me...but I guess that's small town thinking...I don't know.
Here be my list o' critters...
Chickens: 1 White D'uccle Roo. 1 White Silkie Roo. 1 White Silkie Hen. 2 Black Sexlinks. 1 RIR Hen. 1 Light Brahma Hen. 1 Sultan Hen. 1 Old English/Silkie Hen. 2 Americauna Hens. 2 Black Austrolorp Hens. 1 Mille Fleur (Belgian D'uccle). 2 White Silkie chicks. 1 Sebright chick. 1 Old English Chick...I have a few more chicks that I am unsure of. Updates to come! Haha

Horses: Big Bay Gelding, he's a Thoroughbred Quarter horse something. Chubby "White" Arabian/Draft/Quarter/Paint. Getting a Bay Roan Mustang in a few weeks, she has the tattoo and everything. She's beautiful!

Dogs: Red Pitbull. Yellow lab/Chowchow mix. White Shepherd/Yellow Lab mix. Multi colored Saint Bernard/Wolf/German Shepherd mix.

Very nice to meet you all!

Hi Miyashi....I'm in East Jordan...about 28 miles West of you.....welcome to the area! My dad was born in Gaylord. Nice list of critters you have....

Why thank you! I loves them. It has mos def helped, moving away from the few friends I keep and all. The animals are great friends...they all have their own personalities and names. If it wasn't for them, I'm sure I'd be a terrible recluse.
I hope winter is actually over now...it keeps tricking everybody! Sick of the snow! I'm sure you are too. I'm sure you all are! Haha
