Hello Bridgetteanne!

You said you are looking for "older" hens? Not sure how old you mean, but I have 3 ISA Brown pullets that are 7 weeks old right now. I'm looking to rehome/sell them to a good home. I will be going to Chickenstock in June (they will be 16 weeks by then) and if you are going as well and are interested in them, I'll bring them with me. You probably can find some closer to you and get them sooner than June, but thought I'd offer. Let me know if you're interested.
Oh, and

where is the chickenstock going to be?? I would be interested. Im looking for hens that i can put in the same run right away. I dont have room to have a seconded run for the little ones, not this year anyway.

Chickenstock will be held on June 25th at the Delta Mills park. Click on the link in my signature line for all the pertinent information. Hope you do make it.

As I'm laying down I hear the biggest flock of what sounds like sparrows out my bedroom window, it gets louder and louder... Then I realize it's coming from my hallway.. I'm thinking "did all of my eggs freakishly hatch a week ahead of time, all at the same moment, and they're all super loud and angry or something?!" NO lol.. DH went to family farm and bought me all of their SLW and GLW chicks along with all the BOs as my Easter present lol. He knew that was sad the other day bc my SLW had passed away from sitting out in the rain all night so he bought me idk how many chicks. Plus I'm always commenting on how beautiful I think our one GLW is.

I'm thankful for his gift, it was super thoughtful, but do I need this many more chicks? Especially with my incubator still going?

Has anyone here used fish meal or dog food to increase the size of chicken eggs? I realize a good portion of my chickens are young yet, but I've read that fish meal or dog food makes them bigger. Any ideas?

I took a nice drive today to Opa's to pick up some Welsummer eggs. He left them on the porch since he was taking Granny to the airport. A gigantic THANK YOU Opa - I hope I get more than 1 pullet from the eggs, they look beautiful in the Brinsea

Good luck with your hatch and unless 75% of your hatch are pullets then you will just have to sign an IOU til next time.

I just came in from gathering eggs and while I only got 3, evidently those hens ink jets are functioning a little better.

Oh what a day! We spent 3 hours totally cleaning out 2 duck ponds, 4 hours cleaning out the barn and I slowly put all the pullets in with the general population. The week they spent in the "straw fort" seemed to have helped because no one cared when I put the pullets in with them!

Tomorrow we go to my dad and step mom's for Easter dinner. This will be the first time I've been to their house for a holiday in a couple of years. It'll also be the first time they meet Aric, even though they only live 30 miles away and we've been together for a year and a half.

it goes well. I'm a LOT more nervous than Aric!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and holiday!
