Just poppin' in to say hello. Haven't been on this thread in a while. I've got 20 Cornish Xs, 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 New Hampshire Reds, and 1 EE (DD couldn't resist) that are 3 1/2 weeks old. Hoping that the weather will finally be taking a turn for the better! Everybody have a happy Easter!

I also haven't been on this thread in a bit, I am hoping to do chickenstock this year (last year was a bust as my wife was in hospital trying to have a baby) so hopefully I can bring my 7-8 crazy kids plus me n wife ... but won't know till closer to june. Work is expanding and according to the newspaper, hiring another 390 peeps

Cute chicks Hillbilly! I am planning to move mine out...same thing...same age. I've done it before at this age and with the heat lamp they have always done well (except for one that I just barely managed to save that got into the water container...which I THEN covered) It still makes me nervous...and I am in a colder part of Mi. I think they should do ok unless we get another storm and lose power or something like that. I think I have 4 out 5 Blue Orpington roos so it would not be a disaster...would still upset me of course.

Cloudy here. Is it EVER going to be sunny and dry?

Some friends of mine in Traverse City area invited DD and I over for Easter dinner so I don't have to sit around the house feeling sorry for myself again.

I moved mine out to the coop last week with a heat lamp. They are four weeks old today. So far so good. My chicks are pretty much feathered out completely. The five-six week olds with mama are pretty much on their own now, as well. I often find them on opposite ends of the yard from her.

I pulled seeventeen eggs from my bad broody muscovy. Ten were infertile, two were frizzle chicken eggs (lol), and five were fertile and developing. I put them in my incubator. She has four left. I do not know if those are fertile or not- but she is so rotten at leaving them for hours that I figured if she hatches them, she hatches them. If not, its not a huge loss. The other broody has a ton of eggs under her- I have no idea how many because she hasnt gotten off of them at all that I have witnessed. Her eggs are due about the first of May. Bad broody is due a week later. Perhaps she will share responsibility with good broody. Or not.

Rain rain rain forecasted for the next week. If that is the case, my house may float away. I will take it over snow any day, but I sure do wish we had warmer temps. At this rate, we may need a volunteer to bring some propane heaters to Chickenstock....
