Good morning everyone!
Keyt...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Glad you got good test results...double celebration for you!

Rumor has it that the weathermen forecast a COOL summer to follow this cool spring. Anyone else hear this vicious rumor?

I'm hoping everyone had a very nice Easter..... Well maybe Spring is here in the North...I have 3 Pyncheon Bantams sitting on eggs and one Silkie as well..... and my last pregnant Scottish Blackface ewe had twin ewe lambs Easter morning....grand total lambs this season....36......(25 males....11 females). Still have some snow in the woods.....can't wait to start hunting Morel Mushrooms and start planting my Dahlia tubers. It's still in the 30's at night here....just too cold yet. I'm hoping we have a warm month of May..... Think Spring!!!!

I hope your head feels better soon!

My entire backyard is under water. Its booming out there right now, and pouring down rain. I have no idea where the water is going to go. If I see my chickens on little rafts, I will start worrying.

OH YEAH...MORELS!! I think the rain will be great for them...but we need some warmth! How cool you got some baby lambs Easter morning! We had lamb for Easter dinner!

I could never raise them and then butcher...too darn cute...but I sure love to buy them at the store and eat them!

Our snow is finally all gone here---even in our woods.

I like lamb as well....I raise them for breeding stock...I could never eat one of my own. This rain should help the Morels and help my pasture grow as well....I'm tired of feeding hay. We need it to be just a little warmer at night..... I bought some dairy goats in Fife Lake about 25 years ago..... I do miss the goats....but I've had sheep since 1996 and don't have to milk them. I'm heading off to work....everyone have a nice day!

Keyt, glad to hear you got some good news. Happy Birthday!

I've been thinking about hair sheep or some Jacob sheep (love the horns)...I had the same discussion about processing lambs with my DSIL, they raise sheep, she said by the time the lambs are ready for market, they look like sheep, so it's easier.

Wow, the ducks stay out in the run all the time? So if I put up a small dog house type of thing in the run with straw and kept the water outside, they would be happy? I would like them to go in the pond, that's they whole reason I would have them in the first place, but in the winter they would be OK outside in the run? My run has a roof on it so it keeps the snow out for the most part. In the summer I would let them out to go in the pond but I wonder if they would come back at night to be locked in the run, or would I have to go chase them? I've never had ducks before! Thanks for any more advice. Also, what breed of duck would you suggest if I just wanted to keep a few?

I would suggest MUSCOVIES...because I will soon have a zillion babies needing homes.

They are big, they dont quack-they hiss, they wag their tails like a dog, and they are excellent at fly control, and friendly ducks.

I have the two best ones!

Kim is right, they are great...at least the ones I have! Aric says no more ducks...unless I ever find female calls or I'd want one of those babies

Quit gathering her eggs- let her get a batch of fourteen or so so she can sit them!

Then you will have your own gaggle of ducklings...are they called a gaggle? Wheres Sam when I need him? What do you call a group of ducks?

Good Morning! I am in the same boat. I have the sniffly sneezies today and it's so misreable outside I wish I could have stayed home. We don't have water in our yard...yet... but it's been raining here constantly. I wish it would let up so I can go play in the garden.
