I got them from a lady up in Grant. The last time I talked to her she had some chicks, a Splash hen, and some roos (all silkies) for sale. The hens I got from her are young and not laying yet but like to be held. I am not sure about the Splash and the roos (age-wise).

Yep, it is raining. Of course I took the day off to brush hog the 20 acres... The best laid plans of mice and men....

It is going to be raining for the next 5 days supposedly. I have a Rouen who I hope will not get floated away.. she has been sitting on 9 eggs for two weeks now. She laid her eggs in a spot where I could not get to them.. smart. I tried getting down on my hands and knees .. but the Muscovy male "Flipper" would jump on me and beak me. So , I gave up. She is protected from the rain for the most part. When the "mules" hatch out should I remove them from that pen and put them in a place where I can keep them safe from Flipper? Would he hurt them do you think? We built the pen with a top and it is probably 250 square feet there are two pools one deep for the Muskovies and one wading pool for Fifi-Quack (Rouen) I have been snatching Dark-wing's eggs so I have something to bake with, and she has not gone broody anyway. Any info I would appreciate . Thunder now.. may just need to get off the computer so when we lose power I won't lose my computer too !

Mine were probably sweet, but they were also stupid. Aric and I decided last fall we were going to get rid of them but just waited for the right time. I gave a bunch of my chickens to my best friend who just started out with chickens and I wouldn't even give those things to her! So I sold 3 hens for $20 and gave the guy all of the roosters! Just need to sell 2 more hens and Aric wants to keep 2 hens

Also sold 8 hatching duck eggs

I have another 8 or 9 dozen duck eggs in the fridge in the other house. I think I'm gonna feed them to the chickens because no one will buy them and I give up trying!
