Welcome Yorkchick and thank you Hillbilly for the coop compliment.
Love the pictures of your babies Hillbilly...and your babies also RIR!

It rained ALL DAY up here today! Did you get it downstate too? Plus...we are getting some weather calls for frost Sunday and Monday..."patchy" frost. I thought maybe we'd sneak through without a late frost this year....still hope so. I planted 3 tomatoe plants yesterday and put "walls of water" around them. I don't think they grow faster or bigger but it does protect them from freezing.

That would be me and I just got them a few weeks ago from kathyinmo. Was lucky and ended up with 3 girls and 1 boy. Worked out the same with the New Hampshires and the first group of Delaware chicks too.

Thanks for sharing. Reminds me i need to upload candling vids to my facebook. I have soo many pics and vids sometimes i get teased that i forget to take pics of my family lol

ducks had a great time in the rain today. me not so much. cerebral shunts + gloomy weather = major sickness!

It's official, I have torn ligaments in my thumb so no more crocheting for a long time, if again. I guess, if i go to chickenstock i wont be bringing pet blankets either. doubt i'll be going anyway.

I've decided to put all but a couple of my nicer frizzles up for sale on CL. I'm trying let let go of some breeds and take it down to just a few. I was thinking of getting rid of everything after leaving the hospital today, but my family knew I'd be very unhappy. But when I can't hold a cup or wash my own hair anymore, not being able to do work on the farm is even worse!

RIRJEN, where did you find your silkies? I have a neighbor that is looking for a black silkie and another one, maybe a partridge or splash.
It's been a crappy day of rain and cooler temps. Heck, I was sweating yesterday and today I had to wear a jacket!! Not nice, Mother Nature!!

well i hope someone is going to have silkies at Chicken stock..because that is all I am going to bring home with me...unless someone has Show girls.

Here look..you know you all need a little chocolate :

OMG they're soooo cute!!! I'm pretty sure I'll have mostly muskovies and cayugas in this batch and in the other incubator are a bunch of other stuff. The batch after that will be bantams probably frizzles and silkies since they all seem to be laying like crazy. I can't wait to see what ducklings I'll get next weekend!!!

Hi Yorkchick,
I got some golden sebright eggs from a fella up here in Brighton at I-96 & Kensington Rd, Destiny Farm, last year and they hatched beautifully under my broody silkie. He'll sell you as many as you want I'm sure. He welcomes anyone to his small farm every weekend, so let me know if you want more specific directions.
Karen

Thanks for all the welcoming words! I feel at home already!

I'm getting excited about trying to hatch some eggs under Edna. She's a tiny little Sebright, I have seen her try to cover six standard-size eggs when she turns broody, but I will maybe only give her four. She swore at me in chicken language today when she was in the nest box, which she usually starts doing a few days before she's fully broody. So not long to wait! First time I've ever been anxious for her to go broody--usually, it's "Edna! Really? Already?"
