I checked out Townline's website. I was impressed that they had pheasants. I was bummed that the minimum order was 30 birds. I don't think that I can adequately raise that many. Maybe 10 but no way I can handle 30 here. Just not enough room, but darn, I'd like to raise some pheasant.

Anyone want to split an order???

Raz, The last time I was at Destiny Farm Gardens in Milford, he had pheasants. Not ringnecks, but some crazy red and blue ones. Amherst maybe? I don't know much about pheasants, but it's closer and you can just pick them up at the farm!

While it may look crowded in an incubator of hatching chicks it really isn't. They aren't going to hurt each other nor will their milling around harm the hatching eggs. Opening the incubator will lower both the temperature and the humidity and that can cause more damage to a hatch than milling chicks.

Hello ChicwannaB and welcome to BYC! I grew up in Frankenmuth so when I was in high school we played Munger in football, basketball, etc. Of course, that was probably before you were even a consideration by your parents! Also went to a few Potato Festivals! This is a great place to learn about chickens and ask all the questions you need to. Everyone here is so helpful and nice, you'll love it!

Thanks. I just shined a flashlight on them and used the macro setting for the pics.

I took the babies out not because it's crowded but because some of them took longer than 48 hours to completely hatch. I only had it open seconds and i didn't open it all the way, just enough to get my hand in there. Everything was fine. The temp even went down to 68 degrees with a towel on it when we lost power for 6 hours and 3 more still hatched! I know it's a hot debate on whether that's good or not, but again...to each their own!

*******************************************************************************************

I left two more green eggs in the incubator because when I candled them they looked like they were moving but I wasn't sure. I was right...one just poked through. The other one is still moving but no pip yet. Strange how the other 5 started last Thurs and were all hatched by Sunday when the due date was yesterday.

Aric is scared I'll be keeping them all LOL. Maybe 2 but not 7 lol

Thank you so much for that link, I went to the 4H thing in Caro last weekend. A little d isappointing but it's only their 2nd year. I was told the first year there were only 4 people. Didn't know if that meant vendors, or people who came to see it, but this year was much better. Caro is only 22.5 miles from me so it wasn't a long trip, nice ride not too long, I'm sure my ol hip will give out trying to get to the Lansing thing but so what eh? I've also found out there's someone in the Crump area who breeds many types and I plan a drive up there, about 36 miles.
This evening I want to learn how to post pics, want to show people the area I plan my coop in and ask for suggestions.....this should be good for a laff from y'all!! It's okay, I'm cool with it.
Thanks for the come-back.

I clicked on your PAGE, wow, I'm impressed, what a place for a chicken to live. Mine is nothing in comparison, hope to post pics tonight. It's the love the matters, I hope.

Thanks, HennyPenny,
I'm going to have to stop at Destiny Farms. Maybe Wednesday on my way back from Matthaei Botanical Gardens.

Pam,
I might just do that. I have a friend in GR and want to go out and catch a Whitecaps game, so there is a good chance...

Does anyone know where I can get some Jersey Giants? Aric wants them so bad (almost as bad as he wants a GTO

) and I want to get him a couple for his birthday July 6th. He has the spot for them and everything but we can never find any.

Still looking for BCM too. Cricket, I know you said Soldan's had some but when I called they said "We don't have any exotics like that". Not sure if they didn't know what I was talking about or what so we didn't go.

Just took the babies outside to bask in the sun for a little bit. They loved running around and every once in a while they would just lay there like the sun felt good! Didn't leave them out long, just enough to get a few shots. Now you can see why I can't decide which 1 to keep...

I think the black one is a cayuga mix and the one in the front with the slicked back hairdo is a runner mix and the yellow one probably a pekin or runner mix. The Swedish mix boys I have are probably the daddies because...well...they're always "busy" lol. But obviously it's too early to know. I don't care, I love them all. I'm obsessed lol
