Chickendales-

no hatching eggs for me- but will you be at Chicken stock?

I am looking for a show girl or two...pullet/hen.
I also need a Splash silkie.

Welcome, chic, to BYC. I used to go to the Munger Potato Festival with a friend from Pinconning back when I was in college, beer tent was always a blast!

HA! Never been to it and I live 2.5 miles from the event.
Well, hubby saw my helplessness and came to the rescue tonight and helped me build the framework for my nest boxes. I haven't figger'd out how to post pics yet.

I've been to both Munger and Pinconning.

Welcome!

Woke up this morning feeling just a little chilled. Even a month ago I would have felt 54 was quite pleasant yet I got up and shut the windows. Coffee is going down pretty good as I sit here in the quiet contemplating just what I need to due today versus what I will probably get to. I did get some of my garden planted yesterday afternoon. Just seed crops and I need to go get some more this morning. I hope to get them planted before the rain gets here. The tomatoes and peppers will have to wait until next week.

I'm thinking about building a new brooder that I can set the temperature in. I dislike having to constantly raise and lower the heat lamp to maintain the optimum environment for the little guys. I had built one before and it worked out beautifully but was larger than would fit in the work area of my coop. I've one wall with cages that I planned on using the top cages for brooding but the chicks would escape through the wire.

Exactly one month til Chickenstock and I really anticipate that this year will be the best one ever. Lots of folks have indicated their intent to come and I'm sure more will as the date get closer. It almost scares me to think about how many more birds I might come home with. Last year I somehow manage to avoid getting any but my mind set this year has changed. Plus the age of my rainbow flock is approaching an age that I need to start thinking about replacements.

We escaped the frost last night!! We escaped the frost last night!!

So happy to see the thermometer register 45.5 at 6am this morning! I do believe we will get apples on our trees for the first time ever this year!!!

It was a chilly 52 here in the burbs. Can feel the ache in my back this morning what with the damp cold.

My day is somewhat planned, docent tour at MBG for 1st graders then a trip to the feed store. If it doesn't rain, I'll have to go mow my Mom's yard and quote her neighbor for a landscaping job.

Ducks and older chicks don't seem to mind the weather, they are all out. But I'm leaving the 5 weeks in the garage while I'm gone this morning.

It nearly frosted here, oye, was 33 degrees! I covered up plants in burlap just in case. WHY must it be so cold! It is nearly June, it isn't supposed to frost D:

Chickenstock sounds like it would be a blast. I'll have to plan to attend next year! Too hectic at the moment. Where in Michigan is it held?
