Yep, my favorite, an Easter Egger. Could be a roo, the silver one's often are for some reason. Does it have heavy duty legs, or is it more feminine? Maybe if it starts to glow we will know it's gender!

We had a storm? We had hail?

Is that why my bistro table is knocked down? I remember I heard distant thunder while I was drifting of to lala land. When the kids were home, I heard everything! Now, I guess not.

Sad thing is, is it just relief, or my hearing going?

I know it sure feels so much better outside. And... don't have to water the gardens!!

I slept right through it too! Couldn't believe when I got up and saw all the branches down in my yard. I usually hear thunder storms and really do enjoy them. I have a HUGE dead oak at the back of my yard that I fear will come down someday. If it does it will take out many trees around it and probably my fence, depending on which way it falls. Every time we have a storm I check to see if it's still standing. It is!

I've got a leg injury issue - I have a bantam rooster than mounted a 16-20 wk old pullet (standard)....she was obviously not ready and didn't squat, but rather tried to support the little rooster and her legs splayed out from underneath her - I've got her separated and she will put some wt on the leg, but it buckles forward if she tries to use it for too long. I believe the injury is at the knee - any suggestions are appreciated - don't really feel like i can brace it or she wouldn't be able to bend and sit down - have thought about suspending her - thought - anyone ever have an issue like this and if so, how'd you handle? thanks!

Here are my 4 little vorwerks, now - umh - 3 weeks old? I was hoping that Opa might be able to help with boy/girl, athough they may be too young - Although if you are looking for a new roo maybe one of these little guys. They are from Karen at Lund Poultry.

we should all gather at your place with chainsaws and take care of that for you, before your loss is greater than can be handled.

I have 4 hens that look like that from the roosters mounting them. The hens now live with the ducks!

Im thinking of getting some of that Vetricyn stuff, they show it on RFD-TV all the time for animals wounds. Say it's safe even around the eyes, mouth and nose of critters.
This morning I had to pick up lots of glass broken around the yard (storm windows blew over) and I fear the ducks will still manage to find and walk on something and cut their feet. Has anyone used this stuff with ducks/chicnens?

I have a cayuga with what appears to be the same injury. As soon as she'd stand on one of her legs, she'd buckle and fall. It's like she was fine one minute and then she wasn't moving. Her head was up, she was flapping her wings and eating fine, it was just her leg she couldn't stand on. I know I have some pretty excitable farm duck drakes that like to mount everything so I was sure that's what it was. I've had her in an extra large dog kennel for the last few days and now she's standing on it and moving around. She's still favoring that leg a little bit but at least she's able to stand! Hopefully in another day or two she'll be back to her old self.

sure is pretty, I know nothing yet of birds, did it just blow in with last nights storm??

A young couple who buy eggs from me had their cat chase it up on their deck.
