Had a lot of rain and T-storms overnight. Good for my garden. We did have some strong winds though. Everybody ok out there? I haven't heard anything about tornadoes or straight line winds but one never knows...

Today is shaping up to be a little easier on us than the last two have been. Last night I took the eggs away from the broody Vorwerk. I placed 2 three week old bbs bantam orpington chicks with here hoping that she will accept them and that their presence will end her broodiness.
I candled the eggs in the incubator last night as well and was to encouraged by the Vorwerk eggs. I hatched Vorwerks from the same rooster last fall but possibly he has lost interest in breeding. I'm going to give the eggs another week before I discard them but I'm not very optimistic. Sadly the number of Vorwerk eggs in the incubator outnumber the other two breeds so it's a large loss.

No hail or tornadoes here! Much cooler today thank goodness. I went ahead and broke in the new Mantis tiller yesterday..hot or not. It worked great. I was able to start it by myself and the garden looks SO much better! It really is lightweight and it didn't hurt my back although my biceps got quite a workout. (they need it anyway...

Finally got some rain last night...badly needed.
Opa...so sorry about the eggs. Sounds like your roo needs a competitor.
Hubbies cardiologist called last night...cardio conversion will be set up for 3 wks. from now...I am guessing the ablation procedure will follow but haven't heard from his surgeon. Hopeful that this goes well and ends his atrial fib problems.

I think all of our chickens will be happy today with the weather. Have a wonderful day Michigan chicken lovers.

Sorry to hear about your eggs Opa

It's so dark and gloomy here that the girls were still roosting when I came to let them out this morning. They are usually waiting at the door for me greeting me loudly in their chatty nature. I raked and soaked their run last night, it had started to get a little smelly. Not bad but I wanted to nip it in the bud. It was muuuuch better this moring. Good thing my land is pretty sandy. I have great drainage.

Fife, you are determined!

I couldn't bear bringing out my tiller, as bad as I wanted too. My tiller kicks back so much heat I would have passed out for sure if I tried to give it a go yesterday. I love that thing though. It kind of makes me feel BA.

Is that why my bistro table is knocked down? I remember I heard distant thunder while I was drifting of to lala land. When the kids were home, I heard everything! Now, I guess not.

Sad thing is, is it just relief, or my hearing going?

I know it sure feels so much better outside. And... don't have to water the gardens!!

Looks like we have another front coming in right now. Gardens will be happy. We tilled back on April already but I am only half done with gardening. This is terrible. Hopefully it will stay somewhat moist and warm for my plants to grow well. Happy tilling fivelakelooper!

I got a little bit better picture of the found bird. While I am pretty sure as to its heritage I wouldn't mind hearing some imput from others.

Thanks to everyone who weighed in on my broody thoughts. If there are some newborn chicks available at Chickenstock, I'll probabally bring some home - Just don't tell my husband, lol.
