There is a good "store" on ebay that carry really good vanilla beans...

One 750 ml bottle of vodka and 12 beans. You split the beans with a knife or cut with scissors, lengthwise, but leave about half an inch uncut at end, so that you have a big "v". You can put the beans in the vodka bottle or into canning jars or any decorative jar with a tight lid. You will want to shake it several times a day for the first week or so. Store in a cool dark place. It takes at least a month before it is usable, and for best results you might want to wait at least 2 months. It is much better than "store bought"! (I used small Jelly jars and 4 beans and gave them as gifts for Christmas.)

Okay I will have my first set of eggs on the way next week I picked up a offer for BC maran orpington mixes there are hens of each and roosters of each got them on here. Now if there are extras after the hatch I only want a couple. How do I get them new homes?

Somethings wrong with my thermometer, it says its cold out again today. I ordered 'warm'.

I purchased a very expensive air purifier for my home and it arrived yesterday. I don't know if I can breathe any better yet, but the output of this thing is so forceful- it feels like I have air conditioning on in the living room.

Certainly, if my teeth are chattering, I am not breathing any easier.

citalk2much, good luck with your eggs and hatch. Just don't use Keleka for a new home- i already have him lined up in my mind for a few of the marans' that I am hatching....my eggs shipped out yesterday. hope they arrive in good condition.

Good Mornin' Looks like today is going to be a little easier to handle than the last few days have been. I will have to spend part of the day getting some things done to contend with all of the melting snow. But it is going to be melting. At the risk of sounding like Martha Stewart "That a good thing"!

Just poppin' in for a quick mornin' as I head out the door. You all behave yourselves now while I am gone!! We are off to Chicago for the day for my daughters 6 month Shriners appointment. Just love driving there twice a year, NOT!!

Morning everyone. Looks like the heat wave is moving in today.....we're getting above the freezing point!!

Nobody wanted the snout, it just kind of fell off when we moved the pig. All the kids there thought it was funny, and played with it.
