Thanks for your condolences. No, I don't have a game cam, but it's on my short list of must have's! I would love to have a picture of them in my yard! I'll be watching for them for sure!

So very sorry Chickmate, I own 4 very large dogs and what you say is true I have a confirmed cat killer, who happens to adore her pet tom cat, but any other cat is fair game.
Same with the birds.
If it was someones dogs I hope they take responsibility and do the right thing by you, sadly in this day doing the right thing is very under rated.
Bless you.

Chickmate,

I am so sorry. I hope you are able to find out what dog did it and can confront the owner. It doesnt help with the feeling of loss though,.

Keyt- cute pictures! Definitely looks scovy crossed.

I will be driving down to ....hmm. I dont know where- but its Exit 5 off of 23 to a wildlife rehabber who agreed to take this baby. I will be leaving very early this morning, around 7:30.
My question is- does anyone know of a feed store between here and there? I am out of feed. I WASNT out of feed, but somehow the bottom of my feed bag must have gotten wet, and the last third of the bag was a moldy brick.

My Doodle duck has turned into quite the "donkey". He spends his day chasing off the wild mallards and even attacked Henry, my goose yesterday. I do not like male duck hormones.

My husband has threatened to make him dinner.

We had a storm? We had hail?

Is that why my bistro table is knocked down? I remember I heard distant thunder while I was drifting of to lala land. When the kids were home, I heard everything! Now, I guess not.

Sad thing is, is it just relief, or my hearing going?

Yah today felt alot better but a little bit before dark tonight I looked at the ol thermometer and it was read ing 50. I went in the coop/kennel and my 4 week olds were all huddled together so I thought maybe they were cold. Since my heat lamp from the brooder was broken I threw a big blanket over the hutch they are in. I hope that will offer them some warmth. Would they need heat at 4 weeks old with temps at 50 or not? Well I did it anyway, better safe than sorry.

Actually that is too cold for them....I think they should be at 65 or 70. Mine are a week older than yours and I put the heat lamp on them all day yesterday since it never got above 58 and they stayed right there. They are feathered out mostly but I usually go by the book...hubby says I "baby" all of mine. So maybe I go overboard?

Chickmate that is a very sad story and I know you are devasted , angry and frustrated. I just lost 1 to a neighbors dog (mine are also fenced in) a few weeks back and I was upset. To lose as many as you ....well that is horrible. I don't think coons do it in the daytime (right?)...it HAS to be the dogs. Have you seen them on your property before?? Truthfully...I thought by fencing in the area with 4ft. fencing I thought they would be safe from dogs.....so you think they jumped it?? In my case the chicken had flown over the fence to go after new territory bugs and it was her bad luck the dog was going by on our road at that time.
Well....
