This morning I looked out at the birds emerging from the chicken coops, scanned the area where the traps were placed, noticed that one of the bushes I planted yesterday was leaning. Finished the crossword puzzle, checked BYC, drank a couple of cups of coffee, and decided to get my truck loaded with the tools and equipment that I would need for todays job. When I got to the workshop I glanced over toward the chicken coops and discovered why the newly planted bush was leaning. A large raccoon was in one of the traps and the cable on the trap allowed the anger coon to tangle the bush with the staking cable. Went into the shop, got a 22 refle and walked over and dispatched the critter. As I picked up the cable holding the coon, I discovered the coon had also entangled the cable with the hot wire fencing. That makes 8 less coons to date.

to Opa!!

I am taking a break from my"to do" list. I have hit several snags . First a lady came to buy eggs and pick some rhubarb...then visited a bit. My weed-whacker ran out of string and I didn't know how to restring it so had to wait for DH. Meanwhile...I got out my new Mantis...SURE that I could remember the steps to start. WRONG. Forgot to switch the tag from 0 to - and flooded it! Onward.....did some regular hoeing while waiting for Dh to restring the whacker. Weed wacker ready so I 'm doing that and go to a area that had never been done....wanted to get weeds mowed and CA-THUMP. I hit a irrigation line!! So basically I'm taking two steps forward and one back. I am now contemplating a nap!

While you all were were teasing Opa about "napping"...I actually took a nap! It was great...I feel better and will attempt the list once again!
By the way....I love this group..you all crack me up!

haha Opa!

I don't need a nap...yet. I got up at 7:30 this morning and could barely move. I'm still recovering from having two teeth pulled and a broken jaw in the process and my broken ankle. Well, when I got up I felt like I was hit by a truck so I took a muscle relaxer and went back to bed. I didn't get up til 12:30 lol. I haven't slept that long in a long time! But now I feel so much better!

After a couple days of rain and not being able to put the ducklings in the pool, I let them out today. I didn't really notice how much bigger the ducklings I decided to keep have become, especially the Pekin x Muskovie! WOW! They're 3 weeks old today but she looks so much older! I put them in the pool and the big one decided it was fun to get in and out of the pool when she wanted to! The other one could do it but not as easily. Then they decided they wanted to see where all the noises were coming from and they found the bigger ducks. They just laid there watching them and they were watching in return!

Poor things don't have names yet. I need to work on that! lol
