Let me know prices. You're so sweet to sell honey at Chickenstock.

I didn't get my nap. Wound up transplant more bushes instead. Last night's coon capture resulted in one of the newly transplanted bushes being destroyed so I had to replace it and since I had more bushes I decided to plant a few more.

Now I'm waiting for dark so that I can candle the eggs in the incubators. I sure hope that the Vorwerk eggs are growing. Last year I hatched chicks sired by my Vorwerk rooster but the 6 eggs that I had under the broody all turned out to be duds. I hope that he hasn't decided to quit taking care of business.

I gather Welsummer eggs for the past week to send to a BYCer in New York. I gather eggs shortly before 6 and spooked a hen off the nest. When I started packaging up the eggs I had 23. Went back out at 7 and the 24th egg was in the box. Now that is a cooperating chicken. My Welsummers are from the Calico Woods line and his are as well. Since I currently have eggs in both of my incubators he will wait until after Chickenstock and send me some of his eggs. By breeding distantly related birds from the same line it will reinforce the good qualities my birds possess.

Wow! He thought of everything. What a great Dad he is! I love his feeder and watering system and I'll bet the chickens love that coop! Chicwannab, you could whip that up in a short weekend, no?

snowflake, I am glad you like Roopert. I kind of miss the bugger. He was a very good roo and never tried to flog anyone either. No I never de-spured him. I have been considering doing it with my Delaware roo though, my poor hens are looking rather shoddy and naked.

HBH, when you despur that rooster you might want to blunt his toe nails. I think they actually do more damage to the hens than the spurs do.

ChicwannaB, great job

DH told me he was not building anymore coops so today I asked him if that meant that I could not build one. He said as long as I can keep up with the housework he does not care. I am sure my middle son would come and operate the power tools for me and we have piles of lumber that has been here forever. I remember when some of it was cut, my youngest was out in his playpen while it was being cut. He is now 21. I have 5 breeds that I am working with and need the different breeding pens for next spring.

WELCOME to all the new members!

Opa, good job on the coon.

We have had them around here on our bird feeder. My in laws next door have had to take their hummingbird feeders down at night because the coons have even been getting into those.
