:: sigh :: it looks like the verdict is that "Pat" is a rooster.

I believe I have a place to rehome him unless one you is dying for a young, handsome BR rooster. Figures that my one straight run chich would actually be a hen and the supposed pullet a roo.

That sounds good, Saddina. I have a carboy of maple mead and another of grape (malomel) mead. Also have a raspberry beer and Labat clone that needs to be botteled.

6 ring circus is still running with no new drama. There is too much crowing going on though from te newby pens. We really want to build a barn and add goats to the mix.

I picked a nice bunch of radishes today the are wonderful ths year.

Goood Morning everyone!

I am f-f-f-f-f-freeezing!! Hubby has the air on in the bedroom and froze me right out of there about an hour and a half ago. Sitting here in the living room, drinking my coffee and trying to warm up!

I worked yesterday, and then spent the evening fighting with my pond. It is green, and I can't win. I cant get rid of the green. I bought all the stuff the pond supply store told me to- I may as well have just handed them a hundred dollar bill and walked out with nothing. It isnt working. I added the beneficial bacteria, the Kleer stuff, and the other bottle of stuff. Nada. A couple other things, too. I have been hauling out the filter and rinsing

it off every day....did I mention

???
I really need a giant filter. Like a fifty- gallon drum size. If I had a pump big enough, I would make one that would sit OUTSIDE the pond and filter. I even went to the store and bought three of those huge Plecos and put them in the pond. I have no idea where I will put them in the winter. Probably take them back to the pet store.

I just hope sometime before winter I get to see the water fall have clear water instead of green. And the fountain sprayer...nothing like green swamp water spraying in the air.

again.
If it gives me this much trouble next year, I am going to fill it full of dirt.

Work today again this morning. Its my daughters last day of school. My thirteen year old is leaving right after school to spend a week at my brother-in-laws in Brooklyn. My fifteen year old works this afternoon. I am so happy I do not have to wake them up for school for a couple months...yay me. The fifteen year old wakes up easy but it is a royal pain to wake up the thirteen year old.

I work afternoons tomorrow and Thursday- the split schedule really plays havoc on my old self.

Everyone have a wonderful day!
Opa, you have some requests on the Chickenstock thread. I am so excited...its coming up quick!

Thanks Chickmate....starting my day out with your hugs and nice words! It isn't looking good for getting to Chickenstock but if I don't make it this year...there will always be the next!

It sounds like you have a BIG pond?? Not one of the small ones you get at home depot?? That is too bad that you have what should be a beautiful addition to your landscape and can't get the ph balanced correctly. If anyone else in your neighborhood has one that looks good...you might want to ask them what they use. In fact I have friends here that have a lovely huge pond with fountain and I'll ask them. (it may have a spring however ....which would keep it clear)If I find out anything helpful....I'll let you know. I have wanted a large pond and old fashioned windmill (a real and functioning one) everysince we built here....hubby keeps nixing the idea!)

Not a small one- not huge either. It is about 1500 gallons. 1500 gallons of green. Everyone tells me the same thing- keep the ducks out of it. But I want both worlds- ducks IN the pond.

I'm interested too. How much are you charging? With all the great stuff everyone's bringing I want to make sure I bring enough cash. I've never tried mead and just started reading about it. I've been researching beekeeping for a couple of months and someone just gave me a really nice magazine that has an article on honey mead.
