We just have black widows in the states (I think you also have those in parts of Australia too, right? Cousin to the redback). I made a deal with them. They stay outside, in dark corners, and don't bother the people or pets. In return, I won't do this:

Yes we do have black widows in some areas but not so much where I live
Tricky to keep spiders out of the house here we have a resident daddy long legs who keeps away the flies (thankfully they aren’t venomous though)
