Anyone think it'd be ok at night (temp-wise) to put week old chicks outside? They'd be in my barn but with no light. I've also got some that are 2wks old that would be in with them. Whatcha think?!?!

The temptation is there, Jen- but I wouldnt put the week-olds out just yet unless you can give them a light.
Id wait a few more weeks.. the night temps have dropped down into the sixties still. A little low for little babies.

I want these ducklings OUT OF MY KITCHENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.

but Im scared to do it just yet. They havent feathered in yet. Not even a little. They are just messy and smelly and did I mention messy?

One week and two week old chicks still need to have a heat lamp to keep their environmental temperature at 85 and 80 respectively.

Chickmate I'll go out to the shop tonight and make a couple of tethers. If you need to get rid of the EE to reduce your flock I can add her to my rainbow flock.

Please add me to your list of buyers for the smoked chicken. I would like one please. I want to allow my husband to taste what he has been missing.

Lets see smoked chicken and 2 pounds of honey..I just might not get in "trouble' for anything else I bring home this year.

yay for me and the gosling! We will teach her how to use Henry's car seat! Goose poop aint gonna be NOTHIN' compared to the huge haul of birds I brought with me last year.

As it is right now, I only have ONE chicken that I am bringing. The O-Shamo something. Cockerel or Pullet. I have no idea. I promised it to Olive Hill- if she is not coming to Chickenstock, does anyone live near her? And if she does no longer want it, it will be looking for a home.

I sent seven muscovy ducklings off to their new home today. It looks rather barren out there in the yard now. It isnt really, it was just crowded before.
The six mallard babies want to GET OUT of my kitchen and they want to be outside 24/7. really they do.

I thought they grew faster than this, but really the only thing growing is their mess.

hmmmm....ok....well I'll run out there and give them a heat light. I've had too many hatches this year and am tired of having chicks on my dining room table.

I still have on incubator on there with our last hatch of the year in it so after that I get my table back! (so it can become a catch-all again lol)

Chickmate- I may be able to bring an x-pen that you could use to put the boys in until someone snatches them up...I will do my best.

I was planning on bringing it to let the gosling romp around during the day- but I am sure that if you needed it, I could use something else for the gosling. like carry her around...or have my daughters gosling-sit...

it may help to keep my Tiffany away from RIRjen, and asking her about her long-ear bunnies if I force her to goose-sit.
