I have 2 hens that are broody if anyone would like us to sit on some eggs - but you MUST take them all back after the rearing process is done!...and these gals are reliable!

Am I the only one who does not have a broody hen??? I keep hoping....

I think I have too many broodies now. 4 Silkies, 2 Australorp, 3 bantam cochin and a New Hampshire Red pullet. Some of them share duties on the same pile of eggs. It's kind of a pain because they're all egg stealers so I marked all the eggs and we have to use a big food scoop to keep their heads out of the way while we check for eggs we want to sell!

I need to stop letting them keep all the bantam eggs too. If any of you lived closer I'd let you have some!

Thanks anyway

This time last year I had already had 3 broodies. I guess I have to be content with the 3 shipments of chicks I got this year. I just so wanted to see how my Delawares would do.

I have never had a broody hen. Those production hatchery types but I now have nankin pullelts and the breed is known for being good setters which came from a home flock,

Someone posted a pic of one on the Delaware thread. Looks like a Delaware with cheek puffs and if I remember right she lays green eggs and she is very sweet.

Some of the first shipment of chicks I got. Icelandics, New Hampshires and Barred Rocks.
